Mike,

Thank you. I believe John Siekirk said it best, "It's all in the details."

John is a forum member and publishes the monthly Gazette. He is listed as S&S RR, send him a PM and I'm sure he will be happy to add you to the email list.

48 pages, Tom!

The second to last photo with the light streams radiating out through the stair treads is sensational!  I've noted that effect for future reference.  A really comprehensive build with some interesting tangents.  Very enjoyable to follow along.

Cheers, Mark.

A more careful framing, with a train in the picture, probably using some focus stacking, would produce a champion, NMRA Calendar photo.

Mark, Cheers,

Thank you for the kind compliment. I never paid attention to the light through the stairs until you mentioned it. It does crate a nice and different light pattern.

Dave,

I'm not a current member of the NMRA. I was some 50+ years ago, but they turned me off with all the politics in their judging.

I've been a very happy GDI since, 1973. Will never join again.

I can certainly understand that!  I'm still no fan of the Achievement Program.  But I will say that NMRA is at least better run from a business sense than it was 20 years ago.  And I get more from the NMRA Mag than from MR these days.

For me, "calendar shot" is intended as a very high compliment, a photo that really captures the sense of modeling in a dramatic way.
