Hello everyone,

An older project of mine, that aimed to repurpose a couple of Marklin/Trix boxcars that used to be in PRR colors. After following advice and doing some research, i figured they could resemble a lot a couple of NP cars, both in the old and the billboard schemes.

Starting up some light modifications using styrene on the sills. The upper car is in it's original form, while the lower one shows the mods.NPboxcars1.jpg

This is the early scheme, after painting and decal-work.NPboxcarearly2s.jpg

And this is after weathering (enamels, oils, salt weathering)

Now onto the billboard scheme...in my next post...

...and the photos for the 2nd car in the billboard scheme. Same techniques, different decals (microscale in both cases).

Thanks for stopping by!

Yannis,

Those NP boxcars are fantastic looking. Excellent job on the rebuild, decaling and weathering.

Very realistic.

Nice work. I see the newer one has an ACI label. They still looked pretty new when I started hanging around the tracks in the late 1960s.

Jeff, James and Tom many thanks! Speaking of looking like new, i did see a photo of the billboard scheme in green color that did look veeery new in 1969. It had some yellow labels, i wonder if it was a paper car or something.

Rick

Great job on the rebuild and the weathering is spot on.
