Branch line terminus

I was inspired by Trevor Marshall's branch line terminus to make my small layout. My layout though is a coastal branch line.

It started this layout about 13 years ago and made it out with two hollow core doors with extruded foam glued to them sitting on two Home Depot fold up tables. Doors have 3/4 inch ply fascia that are 5 inches in height around each door. The two "modules" fit snugly on top the tables. Years later I added a a third module. Not seen here... yet.

This layout has travelled two times from coast to coast in a U-Haul truck totalling over 11,400 kilometres.

I will soon put together a tour of this layout with the 3rd module. Stay tuned...

In the meantime... some scenes from the layout.

1st shot is coal/fuel distributor next to lead track.

2nd shot is doodlebug on backing off of runaround-track.

3rd shot show where the module separate.

4th shot of siding with sludge pond and TT in the distance.

Last shot of track electrical blocks. It is a DC layout.

5th shot of bulldozer at work hiding the seams where the two modules meet.

Last shot of electrical blocks; layout is DC.

There appears to be a lot of open countryside in your plan. That's a nice feature.

Curt, I am a fan of negative space.

My third module is about 3'x 6' and only has one track on it with a small bridge. I do not have a large enough room for it now, so it is wrapped up and against a wall.

The new room for the layout only allows the two modules. In this room, the end of the line is not against a wall like it used to be, so I had enough room to put in a fold-up section to lengthen the lead track(s), which on the layout is only long enough for the longest motive power I have. On the other end, to the left, I put a piece of hollow core door for a staging track. The curve leaving the layout to the staging area is a 42 inch radius.

The layout is 163" long excluding the fold-up lead track(s).
