It seems this road is "detailed", but it was achieved by simply scraping a steel ruler along extruded foam then painting it with latex paint.

Looks like our roads here!
Good job!

Here is the prototype that inspired me.  And a shot of a scene on my layout near the estuary.

That looks nice. I've seen similar dirt farm roads modeled on a Saint John, NB layout. He had a lot of potato fields...

James, has the Saint John NB layout posted anything on this forum; elsewhere or in a magazine?

This is the best potato field photo I can find from my multiple trips to Maritime Federation of Model Railroaders or NMRA Eastern Canada Division events in NB and PEI.  IIRC his dirt road was about the same shade as the potato field soil.

It's been a decade, but I'm pretty sure this was Steve McMullin's layout. He was and is President of NMRA Canada.  His Blogspot page looks interesting: https://carletonrailway.blogspot.com/

You might find other content of his in the Eastern Canada Division Hot Box, the Northeastern Region Coupler or anything put out by the MFMR. But the current breakdown of WWW indexing isn't helping me find it. There are others in the MFMR and ECD modeling the Saint John River Valley too.

Thanks for the link, James.
