Morning all,

Sunny and 75 later today.  It's new TV delivery day, supposedly between 10 and 2, but that changed last time, so we'll wait and see.

Disappointing yesterday after an hour at Lowe's that they couldn't match the sky color from the print to make paint.  I may try another place Monday.

To Tom and Bob that asked if the picture yesterday was my layout.  I wish!  It's from last year's Narrow Gauge convention.   My layout is a Plywood Pacific/Southern Styrofoam.   ;D  Here's another pic from the NG layout.

Dr Jeff, good luck matching paint, and good luck with the TV.  Hopefully you'll find stuff worth watching.

Don't forget, guys, tomorrow is Mother's Day.

8) Sunny and fresh 50s this am in MI.

We survived the Doll's eye surgery ok yesterday and all the attendant running around, sitting and waiting.  She says it's rather irritated today but improving.  Take it easy day on hand.

Enjoy all.

Morning all,

Best wishes for a speedy recovery for the Doll, Karl!

I forgot to mention to Dave that, when I had my cataract surgery done, I did not have to give myself eyedrops before or after the surgery. They slipped a tiny disc of medication in beneath the lens that was inserted. That replaced the need for eyedrops. It was weird, at first, in that the disc was black. It quickly dissolved. In the five minutes it took to drive home (yes, the surgery center is that close to my house) it was gone. On the other hand, when I went in for the procedure it seemed like everyone I met put drops in my eyes but that sure beat me having to do it. My favorite person, however, was the one that offered me the medication to reduce anxiety.  8)

Game night tonight. I just pulled out the workbench though, so I'll fiddle with the little FOS freebie I'm working on. Still pondering what the next build will be.

Have a great one!

Good Morning Folks;

Well the judging eves got their job done on the Winter Challenge I hope everyone that participated is happy with the outcome. I know I learned a lot of new techniques to try that I had not seen before. It was a shame we had fewer entries this year than last. I got the message, the current contest setup does not encourage participation. We will try something different this coming winter.

The Boss and I are cruising back to Florida today so will be back modeling hopefully some Monday. I have started work on a pickle factory. Some of the ideas from the challenge will most likely make their way into the build.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hmmm, Bob.  I'll have to ask the eye surgeon about that, see what he says about 'insertable medicine'.  My guess is my guy is pretty conservative on treatment, he's been doing this for a long time (with a good reputation.)

I've been painting rock cliffs.  Yesterday I added the strata and the white highlights along the strata.  Today I applied a heavy Alcohol & Ink wash, that should highlight the cracks and recesses.  The alcohol softens the craft paint, so I need to let that cure overnight before the next step (vertical drybrush highlights) and then adding the joints (vertical cracks, drawn in with a Sharpie) to the rock.  In the meantime, I've been reading about using DCC-EX to control devices.  It really is an amazingly capable system, but a lot of the documentation beyond "here's how to hook it up to the track and drive trains" requires some background EE knowledge to fill in gaps in the documentation.  See https://dcc-ex.com/reference/hardware/accessory-controllers.html#gsc.tab=0 for what I've been looking at.

And yeah, I did step out earlier to buy Mother's Day cards....  ;D

Good afternoon, all, and best wishes to the Doll. It started to rain on the lower Merrimack valley mid-morning and promises wet and 50-ish till tomorrow.  I'm off to the Flying Yankee Assoc. annual meeting in a bit, may have time off from email this evening.

Afternoon all,

Busy day for me and Pam. I did score a couple of gems from a model railroad vender at the flea market. Old Athearn freight cars that have never seen the rails.

Photos hopefully tomorrow.

Karl, happy to hear the Doll's eye surgery went well.

Hope all are having a great day.
