Jaime, I've had an Apple watch ever since they first came out, I think I'm on my 3rd watch.  Been happy with every one of them.

TomO, hope your hip is better today and your trip to the hobby shop was successful.

Jerry, no updates?  Don't worry, we are patient.

Dave, hope you make some progress in the train room today.

James, sounds like you had quite the road trip.

Current weather is here is 17c (63f) with fluffy clouds in the sky.  Yesterday didn't go as plan and I didn't make it to the bench, those days happen.  Road trip tomorrow, me and a buddy are going to a railroad museum just outside Montreal (haven't been there for years), do some railfanning and get a great smoke meat dinner.

Cool grey day on the Garden peninsula.

Little new here. We went to a farm market and bought peaches. 3 baseball sized for $5   the grower said his orchard down state lost 55% of their peaches, some W Michigan growers lost all of theirs with a bitter cold for two nights just at the worst time of the year.

Fish dinner on tap for later.

Had horrific pizza last night, burnt cheeze on compressed homosote board. Tried eating half of it before complaining so I guess they figured we were scammers and refused any accommodations on charge. Noticed next table had scraped all the toppings off his too and left the crust. After waitress, bartender and kitchen crew huddled we were given full charge bill, said, "Sorry...". Doll gave them a "0" Google review before we left the parking lot. "Xxxk'n Trolls, won't come back any way..."seems an undercurrent among some folks in this area. Been going there for 5-6 years. 

TomO, talked to the Doll about the possibility of running up to Negaunee and getting more pix of that depot. She got online. It is now a $400/night lodging place and mentioned they don't want anyone taking photos. Look up Negaunee Union Station, there are a couple shots on their site.

Rick, flew the drone, sort of a relearn recurrence test but didn't take the card out to check my pics. That added step does hinder my drone use.

Jaime re: Apple Watch...mine is "ok" but I don't like having it on charger every day or two. $400+ novelty does tell me who's on the phone and warns me my heart is running easygoing if I sit long. The $15 Timex I had before went 5-6 years on one battery. The Doll takes calls and talks on hers, I could I guess but can't seem to over ride the Luddite protection mechanism

Those trumpet vines sure are pretty, IF you keep them away from the house.  I had some on an arch over the back door to the garage...they grew right up beneath the soffit/facia and under the roof and way into the rafters. Took very drastic measures to tame them.  Sure indeed are pretty.

Yeah, trumpet vines are classified as an invasive species.  They're nearly impossible to kill off.

I've been thinking about a laser cutter, and the model I had my eye on dropped $100 to its lowest price on Amazon, so I pulled the trigger.  I'll do a thread on learning the machine, the software, etc.  Now I'm not a complete noobie for laser design, I helped design a laser cut kit about 20 years ago.  But we out-sourced the actual cutting to a pro, so mostly this will be about learning this particular machine.  

While I'm waiting for the tool to show up, I'll have to think about a small structure to cut on it.

How is the rest of the crew?

It was hot today at 94F, but a thunderstorm is headed our way that promises cooler temps.  The morning and afternoon were consumed by an annual report for Masonic Lodge. Fortunately, bookkeeping software made it easier.

I finally decided on what's next: an engine house.  It will help me decide on the final configuration for the engine facilities and yard in Phase II of the layout.  It's another Stoney Creek Designs model.

Good wet evening from my section of Wisconsin. Good T-Storms with heavy rain at times this evening since 5pm. No damage in our immediate area but there was a Tornado warning with the sirens going off. I'll know moor in the morning. I knew something was up around 4:30 when ALL the horses were waiting in the second paddock when usually we have to call them in for dinner. Their stalls were still open and when I opened the paddock gates they went right to the stalls. Thunder and lightning started about 15 minutes later.

The son in law and grandson are out in the ATV right now flying the drone checking the fences in the fields the horses are supposed to be out in tomorrow.

Dave, what brand laser? I saw you mention you purchased one over at MRH and then I came here to see if you posted yet!

My portion of the scenic entry room loops is done at the friend's layout. I have the cardboard webbing installed. Roughly 24' on the bottom level and almost 40' on the upper level. Now until my trees are needed I will be the helper with the ground cover

Coffee, sodas and OJ are ready.
There's a box of donuts from Krispy Kreme and some Cinnabons on the counter.

This one will be about miles and not elevation gain.
Got up earlier than I wanted to to use the bathroom and couldn't fall back to sleep. 

I stayed one night next to Quail Lake in Colorado Springs.

It's a clear 56 with a high of 83 here. Figured I'd hop on here while I wait for wet floors to dry. Not much planned for the day....maybe some bench time and an update to my thread. Other than that not much going on here.

Started out the day with a walk at 77F and moderate humidity. It's supposed to cool down, but that's a relative term for FL in August. Yesterday I finished the rafter tails and started on the roof water tank.

Today after chores I'll continue working on the tank.

Nothing much else happening here.

Good morning Crew from Wisconsin. 64f degrees now, 80 later. The grandson reported at 8pm yesterday there were no fences down where the horses were to roam today. I let them out at 7 and they seemed anxious to get to out. Last night we had some t-storms between 4:45 and 6:15 and they were all skittish. The daughter's 3 seemed ok but the 5 being boarded this Summer were definitely nervous and that made her 3 the same.

The house we are in is above the stables and adjoining the daughter's shop, conference and office in a similar building next door. Off grid with solar, thermal and some wind power generation being stored in an expanded Tesla Powerwall. Yesterday around 11pm the generator kicked in and a few minutes later a text from the son in law asking if we were ok because he got the same alert we did. So that will be my project today to see why the generator kicked in. There were no previous alerts yesterday.

Proof that we most likely will remain here for a few years is Terry is talking vegetables plots and flowers. Always a sign of permanence
