PRR Modeler

Good Morning All,

Today for breakfast is coffee, cereal, bagels, yogurt, OJ, and soda.

Today MOH is helping another rescue volunteer with her wedding dress. MOH sewed our daughter's wedding dress including a embroidered bodice. I have my VA appointments today.

Yesterday I hit a snag on the crane build. I have nothing on hand (tools) to clean out where the bolts would go on the 4 retaining rings that I need. I tried the tip of an Xacto blade and a small drill bit in a pin vise.

I posted a query on the SW forum and a set of broach reamers was recommended, so I ordered a set last night.

Nothing much else happening this way. The photo is what I'm talking about.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Curt, much appreciated.

Not sure I have any reamers, I'll  need to look them up and see.

I have some paint touching up to do this morning. Other than that, I'm free.

Have a safe, happy and healthy day everyone.

Good morning from the UWHealth East complex! Terry's appointment was for 7:45am after some changes. We got here the mandatory 30 minutes ahead and she didn't even get a chance to take off her coat. They took her! PetScan that she has in the past handled well, not me though. My anxiety kicks in but she just closes her eyes. 1.25 to 2 hours is what the technician told me depending on how everything goes!

In solidarity with Terry I have not eaten or drank anything since 7:30 last night. I'm hungry! I'll be looking for a local breakfast place. We have not eaten very often on this side of Madison. The complex is just over the city limits east of Madison in Sun Prairie. Brand new as this complex opened in Spring 2026.

This afternoon on the west side of town we meet with the radiologist someone we hope not to need. Terry wants surgery over the radiation plan. Surgery up is still a go for 11/12!

The grandson was told we hope to be at his hockey game at home tonight. But no promises and he understood!

Have a great day
TomO

Which pet did they use for Terry's PET Scan?  ;D

I have a set of those reamers, I think I got them at a tool vendor at a train show.  They are actually quite handy, one of those "Huh, why didn't I get these before?"  They were particularly helpful for the various pulley castings on my mill project.

Today's big event will be talking my wife's car to the Volvo dealer (an hour drive away) for service, including software update.  They said that could take several hours (!).  I'll bring a book.

39ounder grey skies with a chance of rain here in Michigan.

I will work on the work room cleanup some today.  Too cold for outdoor tasks, thankfully.  Two days ago I messed up the garage door into my work shop/barn as one roller was out of track, I did a bandaid fix on it but as it is a vital part of life around here I decided to call a garage door repair, I emailed a business, Precision Garage Doors, I'd seen their trucks around, and asked for a service call.  This was ~10 am.  I clicked the Noon-4 pm slot and shortly received a text msg that they would be here in that time.  Another text around 1 pm that there was a delay but still coming.  A little after 3 a young man arrived, came to the door and then we went out to the shop.  He went to work on the situation I had created, made it right and also repaired another roller bracket issue and the door, bullet hole* and all, works better than ever.  He charged me -0- gave me a quote to replace or re-new the hardware  :o refused any pay.  Once winter taxes and are paid and new windows installed and 100k checkout of my truck are done...we did get the Doll's repaired car, she said it was like a new buggy beast on the way home.  Driving at night sure sucks.

Little else to add, we're off to friends for turkey dinner this evening.  The Doll is baking a pie.

Back to the cleanup.

Anyone have instructions for a Blair Line Backdrop Warehouse?  I bought one at the 'estate sale' shop in GRap and I discover none.  :( Nice box o'parts, guess I can cobble something from.

Be well all.

* shot a couple inches high over the Whistle Pig digging around and under everything.  ;) it's time did come.

Karl, he was probably intimidated by the bullet hole  ;D ;)  Seriously, sounds like a great company.

Good morning everyone,

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Curt, hope your VA appointments go well.  Hope the reamers arrive quickly so you can clean out the clevises.

Larry,  I have a set of broach reamers.  I don't use them very often, but when I need them, I'm glad I have them.

Mike, hope you get upstairs today.

Tom, hope the touch-up painting goes quickly so you get to the shed.

Rick, enjoy your day off and enjoy your hike with Star.

TomO, hope Terry's scan goes well and you find a good breakfast place.

Dave, don't you love taking a car to the dealer, hope you plan to bring a thick book.

Karl, The garage door company sounds top notch.

Current weather is currently 12c (54f) and cloudy.  Checking in a little late today as I had to take Gracie to the groomers, it's her spa day.  Another night with no modeling but I did spend more time that I wanted too researching linear geared planetary stepper motors looking into how to control them and looking foe some elusive data sheets for them.  For something that is quite common in cell phones and cameras, there seems to be very little information out there.  The search continues.  We shall see what tonight brings.

Have a great day everyone.
