ENSIGN!
Glad to see you posting on this forum!
I thought your Magoun Pier posts might be lost forever.
A hearty welcome from the management of the North Coast Railroad.

That makes sense to build up the momentum of the driveshafts and the flywheels before a load is applied to them via the machine clutches and belts.

Every once in a while we notice something in our 1:1 daily lives that looks like something that could be useful in our miniature worlds. Things like tops of medicine tubes looks like air vents. Shish Kabob spears look like telephone polls or pier pilings.

This thread is dedicated to  exactly  that purpose. Please post your ideas that transfer in scale from the real world to our modeling world, whatever it may be. Although photos of "before and after" are welcome and helpful, just the thought or idea itself is appreciated  and encouraged here.

Happy Modeling!

I'll add to the "We Honest" list modelers that have purchased from them. Good stuff!
I grabbed a bunch of "5 into 1" as well as lights. Extension cables and power distribution boards.

The 5 into 1 connectors are real handy if you are intending to have several lights on or in a single structure. You can have up to five lights with only one plug-in cable coming out of the structure
 Very handy.

The Fakawi  were supposed to help Custer at what became his last stand. But they  apparently never showed up, or maybe Custer got lost lost.

Hence, Custer's last words ....

"Where da Fakawi!"

Modeling time is in short supply of late. But small things collectively become progress ultimately.
I've been working on lighting up a few "almost" done buildings in the harbor area, and adding signage to indicate the type of businesses they represent.

I've looked for actual names of businesses along the right of way that existed during the era that I am modeling. That's been one area of interest. The other is representing the Native heritage of upstate New York and the Finger Lakes region. Many portions of Central New York hold their indigenous names. Seneca, Cayuga, Genesee, Mohawk, Oswego, Gananda, Sodus, Red Creek, Black Creek, Onondaga, and so many others. Its seems fitting to pay honor and homage to those who were the true pioneers to this region.

Thus the North Coast Railroad has several actual business names representing both points.

Seneca Cold Storage (fruit and vegetables), Mohawk Mills (carpets) Red Creek Canning, Genesee Malting House in Sodus are represented so far, Others will follow.

Maybe some pics will find their way here soon.

 as always,

Thanks Kyle. Its rare that anything I present helps to inspire another modeler. It's usually the other way around. Thank you for your kind comment.

Trying to remember....

I've seen that solo to the right of the Red metal brick written up in an article before. I even keep the pattern to make the roof.

Bernd was that you who wrote the article on the RLF group?

As an Alternative to the Woodland Scenic stuff, I use a lot of stuff from an Ebay site named "WE HONEST" They actually seem to live up to their name!

It's a plug and play system for the most part. There are all sorts of stick onLEDs for interior walls, and several door, loading platform, and street light designs. there seems to be two plug systems available on some pieces.

They have a 5 into 1 connector that I use. It gives me up to 5 lights in any combination for one building, and an easy way to extend them to the power module.

Most impressive was the power modules accommodating up to over thirty lights per unit. it also has three different ways to get power TO the module.

Here's a link to the power distribution board.

Agreed. I enjoy how Mark thinks in all three directions. Elevation changes make scenes more interesting.

Always a pleasure to see your progress, and how scenes are developed.

Quote from: Rail and Tie on March 20, 2020, 01:58:15 PMGreat work as usual George. Amazing what height does to a scene when used creatively as you have done.

So true. It seems so few modelers think vertically rather than simply flat. Changes in elevation help, whether it is in the buildings or topography of a layout design.

This was both imaginative and well executed.

Dave, got any pics posted of your layout overall. I see snippets here and there. I'd love to see some wider angles of progress pics!
