Good Morning!

The official announcement will be made sometime this week but we are indeed having a winter challenge as always! We will follow same rules as the 2024 challenge and even though we are starting late we will call it the 2025 Winter Challenge. Once again there will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and third but the real push will be just having partisapation so we will have a prize for all who participate as well! It will run through April 15, 2026. So dust off the project you always wanted to share and let the fun begin.

Good morning Curt, Larry, Dave, Jim and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Curt, sorry to hear about the fridge, 10 years, they don't make them like they used too.

Larry, Ham and Bean soup sounds great, wish Ellie a happy birthday for us.

Dave, are you going to bite the bullet and get the proper wheels for the trucks?

Jim, looking forward to the winter challenge, I might even participate in it this year.

Weather here is currently -20c (-4c) and overcast but the sun should be out later today.  Another day of no modeling but that might change today as the boxcars are staring back at me.  The next step is adding the ladders.  Or, I might continue working on the backdrop.

Have a great day today.

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Curt and sorry 'bout the fridge. Been there, done that and have the t-shirt that goes with the hassle.

As Curt mentioned, cool and damp from the rain. A bit foggy as well.

Made a quick run to the grocery store for some little items. Now its time to balance the check books. Later I hope to get back on the layout scenery.

I'm not sure I'll participate in the challenge this year. I'm doing one now.  8)

Dinner last night was great and we all had a wonderful time.

Have a safe, warm and happy day everyone.

Slightly warmer in Michigan this morning, mid 20s going to be above freezing with chance of freezing rain.  Grey and ugly.

TomO, Calumet has been getting lots of snow.  I was there in the late 70s in early mark and they had over 300 inches marked on the big sign.  Only town I've seen where the parking meters are mounted on the front walls of stores, they plow everything to the middle of the street, blow it into a truck and haul it to a big field at the end of the main street.  In the spring they have a Guess the Date contest on the date it all melts.

Plenty to do, so I'll get at it.

Be well everyone.

Good morning everyone.

In Vega, TX it's currently 48.
Cloudy, windy and 67 later.

Curt, thanks for the coffee and breakfast and sorry about the fridge.

Larry, Happy Birthday to Ellie.

ACLTom, hope your checkbook balances as well as the level on your models.

Ron, have fun doing either the boxcars or the backdrop.

Jim, good morning.
Only winter challenge I'll be doing is getting through it in one piece.

Dave, hope you make good progress with the boxcars.

Philip, which did you choose?

Mike, ladder and roof get done?

Jerry, hope you find a good cardio guy.

Tom, I left some boxes filled with mostly modeling things with two friends in NJ.
They've been storing those for me three years.
My daughter's house should be done by end of month and she has agreed to store my stuff.
When I get to Jersey, those boxes will be sent UPS to her.
I'm doing it now because I have some exciting adventures planned for the spring, summer and fall and won't have time to go to NJ then.
So far the weather has been OK and I have good heat in the van so I am more than comfortable.
And no, I won't Strat modeling again any time soon.
That will have to wait a few more years when I buy a home and settle down.

Hope the rest of the crew is doing very well.

Made it to Texas and today's goal is to make it to OKC.
I filled up in New Mexico for $2.87/gal which was the cheapest diesel price so far.
Got to Texas and filled up for $2.72/gal.

Another oldie from January '25 from my campsite in Nevada at sunset.
