I am modeling track side rail rests for a layout and the only one I can find info on is the B&O rest.  Does anyone have any other info on them or idea of where I can find it ?

Thank you

Welcome to the forum.  Can you post a picture of the B&O rest?

Hi Glassman,

Welcome to the forum.

If I think of it I'll flip through some of my books this weekend to see if any have photo's of what you're looking for.  I'm assuming by track side rail rests you mean storage racks for rail to be used for track repairs.

You can see one end of one style in this photo.

In the 1960's I built one for my HO layout from a MRR magazine article.  It consisted of posts with short sections of rail on top for "sliding ease" with the full length rails on top of that.

Here's a simple setup.

And here you go with all the info you will ever need on Rail Racks!

Another B&O fan! Welcome!
If you don't all ready have the site bookmarked, try www.borhs.org the website for the B&O Railroad Historical Society. Also, someone in the B&O Yahoo group probably has or has access to your photos and diagrams. Many of the members are retired B&O folks. I've found them very willing to help. https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Baltimore_and_Ohio/info. You may have to join the group to get access to what you're looking for.
Where are you located?

Thank you all for the kind welcome.  Yse Bob that are trakside rail racks. Well that is wnat I called them. I got a drawing from the B&O History Group and they listed them as rail rest.  I would post the drawing but am not sure how to do photos here yet. In short the have it as a 6' old rail witha 1.25" hole drilled in the web and a 1" steel rod bent in to make the hook for the rail. I know I have seen othe styles but j7st can not find tnem tight now.

Thanks again
