Hi Vilius:

I have the big kit. Artie gave me 5 kits from it to build at the structure show for him to put into dioramas. He is selling them as separate kits. This is my last one. Also the most difficult.

Karl,

On totally different subject. Are you going to build new FSM kit and to a thread on the forum?

Hi Villius:

Hopefully I will be doing that.

Hi All:

Here's the final photos of Alvin's Hat Co. Not the best model I ever built. I was a tough kit to build.

Karl, what made this "tough"?   Any suggestions for Bar Mills, or for people with their kits on their shelves?

I have been reading the instructions nor my Alvin's kit and agree it will be challenging; lots of different wall surfaces and roof configurations.  Jim

Yes I too would be interested in what made this a tough build.   Karl, were there any areas that could have or should have been explained more thoroughly ??  Any fiddly parts that took an extra pair of hands to accomplish ??  Parts not well marked ??  The sun got in my eyes ??  Yes, would certainly appreciate a better explanation of what exactly was "tough" for a fairly accomplished modeler...  Thanks in advance,

Hi guys:

It's just a very time consuming kit that you have to take your time with. Maybe difficult was the wrong word. Lots of shingling and clapboards to apply. You have to be careful and pay attention to what you are doing. I built all five kits and this one took the most time. Lots of slot and tab constuction on the walls. Difficult to cut the holes after the shingles were applied. I talked to Artie about this and he said to cut the tabs off and glue parts to the walls. This worked out pretty well. If you build this kit take your time and Just pay close attention to what you are doing.

Despite the difficulties, it is a nice structure and you did your usual great job Karl.  8)

Thanks!  "Fiddly and fussy" is a lot better than "doesn't fit" :-) :-)
