Happy new Year to you.

I started a new and for me first time projekt. As I wrote on another post I need some RS18 for my BCR Fleet. The first on will be #615
http://www.cnrphotos.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=49202

I started with the undecorated shell of an Atlas RS32, filled the corner notches with some sheet and glued it together and to the shell. I sanded it in shape. The BCR version is different in some details from the CN/CPR versions I know so there will be some more scratchbuilding. There is a big round headlight above the window and on the long hood end between the numberboards and above that sits the dual headlight. The windshield is splitted and the bell is next to the headlight above the frontwindow. Here are the first pictures of my start.

I have two RS11 cabs to use with the low hood RS18´s and I´ll use the Cab of the Trainman RS32 for the high hood version. Finally I will have 3 RS18 #604, #615 and another one with low hood for my fleet. I will send out my order to miniatures by eric tomorrow and hope I have all needed part in order.
More progress on this and maybe the others will follow, soon.

Any tips and ideas are very appreciated,

Regards,Chris

I've done a little cut/splice on plastic bodies over the years, but never on an MLW model.  Looks like a good start.

Chris,

Nice start, I've never worked on plastic other than painting. I'll be following along.

Hi there,
Thanks for the kind words. It´s been some time and most of the needed parts came in during the last two weeks. I also got the RS18 conversion parts from Kaslo shops and the Metal parts from Eric. The resin parts are very nice and I couldn´t resist to start with them on the first enigne. I milled out the inside of the Kaslo hood, placed the ne front to the cab and added the new pilots for the BCR unit. And here is #615 waiting in front of Dawson Creek Station for more work on it.

I´ll add the two openings to the doors of the long hood and after that adding the rear numberboards and the lights. I´m thinking of adding an ESU Loksound decoder to this one. Will be the first ESU decoder but I´ve heard that they are nice. More progress will follow, soon.

Regards,Chris
