Enjoying your thread. I'm sure you know this but I might suggest you brace the heck out of that tall tower...I've found those long runs take a beating when the humidity kicks in.

Sometimes I'll suggest an AMB/Laserkit or Branchline kit for someone who's new and is intimidated by the prices of other craftsman kits. They'll come to one of our club open houses and we'll talk structures. For newbies, though, these kit instructions say nothing about bracing and I hate to see their early efforts start warping on them and scare them away from the hobby.

Thanks for the build thread!  :D

I did use alot of bracing. I here ya . Alot of work for it to warp

I'm enjoying the build - real nice looking structure. I know how those out of town work trips cut into the modeling time.

Hi Ruty:

I started this kit over a year ago and it still isn't finished. Jack Ellis one of the Bar Mills guys showed me how he finisihed the roof on his. It looks really great . You may want to give it a try.

Dormers:

1) Piece of copy paper on each side of roof about 1/8th inch wide.

2) piece of .020 Plastic 1/8th wide on top of peak.

3) Finish with a piece of .035 Floral wire .

The only difference in the main peak is a piece 1/16th Square Bass between the plastic and the wire to give some height.

Here's a photo.

Karl...

I get a lot of mileage out of floral wire...... I'm surprised more people don't use it.

Piano wire has too much body and fights me at every turn........ floral stays where you put it and if it gets bent a bit it goes right back without hurting anything.

thanx
Bob
Did you ever notice how many towns are named after their water towers ! ?
