Got my FOS new email this AM, their new limited edition kit has been announced. It's on the website.

Not my cup of tea, but I'm sure others will be ordering. Now, if Doug ever offers the small block of shops building from the kit, I'll buy 2 of those :)

I ordered it. I can tell you I'm really probably only interested in everything BUT those shops. Maybe we can work something out  ::)

I find John's post very interesting.  I'm getting to the point where I'm breaking up kits putting a piece here a piece there.  Doug's kit looks great but to make it fit on my layout I would have to break it into 7 structures that would end up in different locations.

This is nothing new - take a look at how George Sellios breaks up his own kits on the Franklin & South Manchester.

I think a kit piece swap page would be a cool new thread for the forum.  What say you? I know I will have some pieces that I will not need in the future.

I have ordered the kit despite the Brexit £ being at it's lowest for 10 years to the $. Still it is only money.......

The block of shops look it to be a separate standalone item so they could be sold on.........

How come all the great looking kits come out when I low on funds?

JimF

John,

Yes, definitely let me know if you decide you don't need or want the shops building.

For anyone who likes to build dioramas, either as designed, or changed around, I can see the advantage of kits like this one from FOS, and from bar Mills, SRMW, etc...

But for folks building a layout, as has been mentioned, finding the space for it on any layout other than one in the initial stages of being built can be a problem. And even if you do work it in, what happens when the next 'latest and greatest' multi kit comes along?

went to the website.... I don't see the new kit, just the sold out Printer's row....

Bob,

Did you use this link? http://fosscalemodels.com/

That's their new website page, though the old one is still active, just not updated.

thanks Jim! I was not aware of the new site- the old one was in my favorite bar....

Jim - I thought that was why model railroaders built extensions on their houses!

Joking aside - I do enjoy the head-work involved in having to drastically change a kit up to fit the odd shaped pieces of real estate left on my layout - and this does help produce something unique.

Cheers, Mark.
