I just caught up with your build - looking good.  And I also learned Ringo Star had a coal company named after him.  ;)

John,
Thanks for following along on this build...here's a good blooper to share... ::)

Marty McGuirk has a blog on his Central Vermont RR called "Wordless Wednesday", a photo with no caption...this photo is one to share here...went out to the garage last week to paint the office area castings white, it was 2am and below zero, had a sweatshirt and a hooded jacket on with poor lighting in the garage...but an old brush unknown to me had some old red paint in it ... next morning it looked like this... ???

Wanted to see if the pink castings were what was wanted .... so we went onto something else....the board and batten supply shed was painted buff with brown trim per the instructions and braced. Will trim out the buff metal castings in brown paint. Wood was stained for the coal bins.

While the 7 castings were being stripped to get repainted the wall sections that make up the office area was stained in grey yesterday and Floquil OOP Rosewood stain was applied to them tonight. This was done since the main bunker was stained in Floquil Dio-Sol and thinned boxcar red, and now there is not more Dio-Sol on the shelf. Turned out it was a great match for the coal bunker. There was also a sample of some Floquil Cherry stain shown and that was more of a yellow-brown on the wood, so we went with the Rosewood stain.

The box of castings were filed and are cleaned up ready for priming. Cleaned up those " Little Pink Houses " castings for the office building too.  All the remaining strip wood that was not already stained were given washes of light & medium A/I . :)

Here's an update...1st photo...castings for the supply shed were trimmed out in brown paint and the 3 sides of the truck shed frame wood is ready for the board by board...2nd & 3rd photos...supply shed board by board platform glued to a piece of sealed card stock in a light A/I wash since that's a newer building and sits on the ground...board by board office platform area in a medium A/I wash...both ready for more detailing...onto the board by board coal bins and painting the box of castings... :)

Here is a short update on the FSM Starkey Coal build. The 3 compartment coal bin was built board by board over the kit provided card template. Wood was stained with Floquil Oak, Walnut and Maple stains followed by a light grey wash. Item is assembled and ready to be installed.
