I received this kit today in the mail. All I did today was open the kit, separate parts, removed the walls from the sprue and read the instructions several times. I'll get started with the bracing tomorrow.

I thing I don't understand is that the wide loading door is made out of a cardboard type material. Everything else (doors and windows) are from Tichy. In fact, the last Fos scale model I built had the exact door, but it was from Tichy.

Curt,

I'll follow along on the adventure. Reading Bob said this was a fun kit to build.

Bwahahahahaha! Look what arrived here, too. This will be the second one of these I've built...both for other guys.

It's a race Dave! ;D. I ordered a couple of doors from Tichy. I have not had much luck working with cardboard.

Have at it, Curt...this is down my list a bit.  Following...

On a related note, Doug's been including these great little advertisements in his kits. Here's my latest favorite...

I'll be following along kit. I have one of these in my stash to build for myself someday but that won't happen anytime in the near future.  It's an interesting little structure and I like the footprint (long and narrow).   :D

Afternoon All,

Thanks for the follow Bob, Dave, and Tom. There won't be a race Dave since I tend to be pretty slow building kits. Case in point, this picture represents 2 1/4 hours work.

Today obviously I attached the bracing and sprayed the inside of the walls. Although it's not a great pic the colors I will be using are on the wood scraps. The scraps have 3 coats of A&I before a color wash. My thoughts are that this will be in the yard so the building will be pretty dirty and not well maintained.

No modeling tomorrow. I have been directed by higher authority (my wife) that I am needed at youngest grandson's school to help inventory library books for the end of the school year (next week).

Afternoon All,

Well, I'm a bit embarrassed :o, the Tichy doors came in today and I decided to test fit one before painting and sure enough it was too big. So much for eyeballing it. So I took another look at the door provided to discover it was actually wood...very thin wood, but wood...oops!

Today I spent a couple of hours putting 3 coats of A&I on all the wood walls, trim pieces, and wood detail parts. After that I sprayed the plastic windows and door with the wood colored undercoat.

Tomorrow I  plan on starting the trim painting.

Curt,

If it isn't to late, I have a huge assortment of Tichy doors and windows. You are welcome to come by and see if you can use any of them.

Anyway, I'm following along. Oops, I already said that last week.

Tom,

That is a very kind offer and I really appreciate it. I'm going to use the provided door first and if I can't make it work I will take you up on your offer.

I do have a question for you- Is your depot on legs or is it flush to the ground? I don't remember from my visit.

Thank you again.

Curt,

The Yard Office #2 is on very short legs/posts. I believe they come with the kit.

The Tichy stuff is here if you need them.

Afternoon All,

Today I spent about 90 minutes applying paint to the trim pieces and the walls. After that I glued in the window frames and small door. Finally I put together the door I was worrying about (I tend to be a worrier) and it was actually very easy, just several pieces. I actually like the feeling of depth with it.

No modeling tomorrow. Sunday I plan on installing signage, window "glass" and shades.

It looks like the wall color washed out in the photo (antique gold).

Curt,

I was able to lighten the picture a little so others can see the Antique Gold.
