Hi guys. This is a snap shot of the underside of a Victorian Railways DERM Railmotor that I am in the process of scratch building. Not knowing a lot about trains or scratch building using styrene, I could use some help here.

Could someone perhaps identify what the components are so that I may have a better idea of how to model them properly.

Secondly, what's the best way to make a fuel tank from scratch?

Kipsley.....

For the tanks eitherstyrere rod or tubing or wood dowel rod.  For the strapping to hold the tanks, find some .15 or .20mm strips or find sheet and cut your own with a super sharp blade.

Piping can be any sort of brass or steel wire.  Copper in my estimation is too soft and flexible.  You'll hurt it before you are done with everything else around it.

Hope this helps

Did you ever notice how many towns are named after their water towers ! ?

A prototype photo would help, but bottom center I see the brake valve, brake cylinder, so the two tanks below are probably the main and emergency air reservoirs.   The biggest tank along the top is probably diesel fuel, the smaller two might be drinking or cooling water?
