I went with Art's  suggestion of gray primer. then with slightly thinned paint I painted the walls. I have several test pieces that are also drying. This is why you should always save what's left of the carrier sheets so you have something to test with. tomorrow after work I'll try some weathering. Art likes to lightly sand them to let the primer show through. I'll give it a try. I've also sponged on earth or gray to show peeling paint. Its 1940 and the economy is getting better so I don't think this will be heavily weathered. I'm guessing it got it's last paint job maybe just before the depression.

I not a real fan of laser cut windows so I ordered Thichy windows that are the right size. I grabbed a window out of the spare parts box to try the green. I think I need to dull it down a bit with a little gray paint .

This roof has battens. what kind of roofing would this be in real life?

Battens would seem to indicate a tar paper roof.  However, tar paper is a short term roof (6 months) and not appropriate for this type of business.
I would change to asphalt shingles that have a much longer life.

Nice start to the kit.

I'm not a fan of the laser cut or the peal and stick windows either. If I can use the Tichy or Northeastern doors/windows I will.

The loading dock on Homer's looks great.
