I really like the way this one turned out!   :D  :D  :D  The stretch of the layout that includes this one is going to be a real eye pleaser (not that the rest of the layout isn't  ;) ).

Hey Tom:

Looks really great. Love your coloring.

If you used a dull coat to seal the weathering effects, what did you use?

Bob,

Thank you. I'm very pleased with how it came out. I think the area just south of the Big Tahope River will be as you said, "a real eye pleaser".

Good question and I should have covered it in the thread but didn't. After any application of pastel chalks of any kind, I never spray on dull coat. Two reasons, NO ONE touches my models on the layout and the dull coat will hide the weathering, Meaning, the dull coat blends and makes the chalks appear to disappear.

Great job on this one. After seeing your kit bash and watching Jason Jensen videos I'm starting to think outside of the box and realize that the design of the kit is not etched in stone.

Tom, a fine job with very pleasing-to-the-eye result from the interesting angles and proportions. I enjoyed following along and learning a few new tips--plus watch a master at work.

BTW, I believe that if you want to seal an object that's been weathered with chalks, there's a Krylon product called matte fixative that will do the job.  This is what artists use to seal pastel drawing and I usually find it in the paint department at Micheal's craft store.  The key difference is that the matte fixative doesn't attack chalk like dullcoat.     I remember reading this as an old "Dave Frary" tip.

The funny thing is I never seal the buildings either.

Dick,

Thank you, much appreciate the kind words.

I like to move walls and make the kits look somewhat different than the original. This way it doesn't look like a kit 100 other people have on layouts. George once commented when he sees one of his kits, he like them best when the original floor plan is changed.

I don't do it on all the kits but I try to change a few.

Greg,

I guess I should say "without my permission", of course there are those that like to move small stuff around. Remember, I can be armed at times, you just never know when.
