Hi all!
I'm currently rebuilding my layout from HOn3 into On30.
And the western part of it needs a nice eyecatcher.
As a big fan of the game "Red dead redemption 2", I have found a lot of inspiration there.
What really caught me was the town of Annesburg and the mine there.
.

It will require some selective compression to fit, and also some alterations.
But it will sure be a big building in O scale.

Ditto to what Karl said.  That is a great local/idea for a recreation.  Looking forward to following your endeavor.

Graffen.....

Mining is always a great eye catcher in modeling.   I'll be watching.

Did you ever notice how many towns are named after their water towers ! ?

I've drawn the mine in CAD.

It is quite large in O scale.
There will be some alterations made as I go.

This looks like a great project. The designers of the game really did a great job with the buildings. I often thought about building a model of the Prinz and Co Slaughter house outside St. Denis.

The preliminary drawings of the mine that I will build in O scale.

I will measure the space available and make alterations where needed.

The winch house drawings.

Now I'll have to buy a LOT of wood!

What will fuel the boilers?  Where and how will the fuel get to the boilers?  And where will the ashes go?

Just some thoughts as you work through the model on location.

Modeling the Northeast in the 1890s - because the little voices told me to

Nice drawings, Gaffen.

Yes a LOT of wood!

Cheers, Mark.

I think oil burners are the way to go, and it gives me an excuse for some oil tank cars....  8)
