Morning all,

Got in a two block walk yesterday, later went through the grocery store.  It was a bit tiring.  Will try to increase my walking distance today, but it's gotten quite chilly here over the last week.

Didn't do much with the kit and my son and the grandkids are coming for a couple of days, so nothing will be accomplished on that until Monday, probably.

I am enjoying seeing the other new builds.

Good Morning Folks;

Looks like a sunny cilly day in store for us in central Florida today. I too did not get much done on the build yesterday, ended up helping wife clean out the attic, frankly she did the hard attic part I just did the moving part, still woke up with a back that said ouch. Will give it another try on modeling today.

Not sure how many here are following world events but one of my pastimes is history and what I am seeing in Europe is scary. If you substitute the word Ukraine for Czechoslovakia and Russia for Germany we are reliving 1938-39. I know most of us had no idea where Ukraine even was before Russia decided on a land grab but since it started Russia has acted just like Germany back then and the weak response of the west to the takeover of Czechoslovakia in 1939 resulted in the invasion of Poland and the full start of WW2, sound familiar now? History doesn't repeat but it does rhyme and we are seeing the second verse. If I was living in Poland or Hawaii I might want a summer home somewhere else, like New Zealand.

Wish I could do something about it but last time I wrote my congressman it concerned Federal help to the insurance problem of coastal areas. His response was he too was in favor in the right to own a gun.  ::)

Good morning.

I just finished plowing out in front of my mailbox.  We were blessed with about four inches of wet heavy snow overnight.  That was mixed in with some rain, and forecasts were for 6-12" of snow.  The rain was five to six hours later changing to snow than forecast, so that probably made the difference in the amount of snowfall we received.  It is still snowing lightly, more wet snow mixed with a little rain.  That is supposed to become all rain before it tapers off during the afternoon. The real plus to all this is that between the rain yesterday and the snowy mix overnight we have gotten almost 2" of precipitation, something we desperately needed in what has been an unusually dry fall, bordering on drought.

Now that I am reasonably well plowed out I can get back to working on some freight cars.

I hope everyone has a safe and productive day!

Afternoon all,

Like Jim mentioned, it's cool down here in sunny Central Florida.  When I went for my walk this morning it was 48 outside.  I didn't see many of the regulars on the trail.

We're off to get haircuts this evening.  I'm long overdue and it'll feel good to get back to normal.

Guess I'll spend a few minutes at the workbench.

Have a great one!

Good afternoon from SE NH.  We had rain last night, and some more rain predicted for tonight.  We're desperate for rain, so this is welcome.  But it did stop long enough for me to take the dogs out for a walk, where they saw (and barked at) several neighbors.

I should do some more scenery on the shelf part, either adding static grass to the edge that I did some other textures yesterday, or doing some of the 'interior' parts between the tracks and buildings.

Jim, I agree with you, even though it seems that politics is often verboten here on the Forum.

My Dad had a business colleague at 'The' Ohio State University whose childhood years were spent in an American internment camp, you see, he was born to Americans of Japanese ancestry. This is the kind of history not taught in our schools. While we were 'protecting' the country from spies and saboteurs, the homes, businesses and farms of these citizens were repossessed by their neighbors and so-called friends. Will we soon see another chapter in this saga in the name of 'protecting' us from the dog-eating immigrants?

Afternoon all,

I got busy this morning on the challenge build and working on the layout. I just forgot to check in.

I don't know what our current POTUS is doing, but then again he doesn't either.

Nuff said on that.

As soon as Craig moves my challenge thread from scratch building to Winter Challenge, I'll add more.

Hope all are having a great day.

Rollin;

I apologize if you thought my comment was politically motivated, it was not. I was just speaking out loud my growing worries of the real world, not the  unreal world of politics, however I will stick to just modeling on this forum from now, sorry.

Jim,

No apology needed. The facts of history are what they are, and heaven help us if we fail to heed them, or bury them under the guise of not offending someone. The state of Florida has been buying textbooks for students that claim that native tribes were "persuaded" to move to Oklahoma, but do not explain why the move is known as the "Trail of Tears."

I could go on, but the people who need to hear it aren't reading our posts.
