Morning all.

Some housekeeping of the forum today. We now have the following categories:

  • The Yard
  • The Mainline
  • The Roundhouse
  • Forum Contests
  • The Freight House
  • The Marketplace

Topics that were in now removed categories have been moved to one of the above. This keeps certain areas of the forum from mothballing.

Good Morning All,

Stated out with a walk at 47F. I was informed I had to drive to Daytona today and then a side trip to the Buccee's. ::) So that means another day with no train room time. :'(

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning from a chilled So. Central Wisconsin. The "real feel" used to be called wind chill will not go above 0 today.

I will add 2 models later today in the continuous weathering thread. It's under the Super Detailing forum.

Test drove a couple SUV's yesterday and will again today. I decided to beat the tariffs or any possible price increases. Very impressed with the Q4 etron but laughed at the mileage of 288 miles per charge after buying the enhanced $$$ battery package. The dealer delivered the 4 for our test drive even though I told them no EV's. Big minus marks for the dealer. Terry said it's here, let's try it. The Q3 was a nice vehicle but seems outdated in styling. Both are nopes!

Dinner is at a burger joint ranked in the Wisconsin top 5. 43 miles and about 70 minutes away. Just a few miles from where Terry and I saw UP4014 in its 1st run around the USA in 2019(?).

Enjoy the day

Sunny and right at freezing in SE NH.  I have to go to the local roaster and get more coffee today.  Otherwise, I'll be working on Lamsons.

Craig, a topic for 'early rail' didn't make the cut?

Morning all,

Guess it's medical week.  Yesterday was the annual physical.  This morning a teeth cleaning/sharpening (with a follow up appointment in a couple of weeks to replace two crowns $$$).  This afternoon is an appointment with a cardiologist to schedule a stress test and possibly a few other things.  No workbench time until this evening at the earliest.  :(

Have a great one!

Good morning,

Fires at work this week.  I sure will be glad when I can retire....

Not much progress on the layout this week so far.

Good afternoon, all. My weather is Dave's, except a little warmer. My pavement has melted clear, now my lawn is working on it, still a good deal of green coming out from under the snow.  So far today I've renewed my license and dealt with a lot of email. Later a birthday dinner at a brewpub in Haverhill MA. We won't be out on the deck tonight, but in summer I watch MBTA commuters, Amtrak Downeasters and Pan Am (now CSX) freights cross the Merrimack River.

Is there a topic on this forum for "Layout Electrical"? A topic that includes DCC installs, turnout installs/control etc? LED use and structure lighting.

Thanks....John

I don't think there is, but I wish there was. I have to go elsewhere for my DCC questions.

Happy to add this tomorrow. A category for all matters of electrical work at scale is a good idea.

On RR-Line, Ralph DeBlasi (large HO LV layout in South Jersey) did a long thread about signaling his layout using CMRI.  I did another signaling my HO B&M Eastern Route using commercial detectors, signal drivers, relays and homebrew diode/resistor logic. We both built our own signals using commercial parts like heads, platforms and ladders. As long as RR-Line survives, I don't feel compelled to move mine, but the Layout Electrical thread sounds good for content like that.
