Mike nice job on the shingles.  Looking forward to the weathering.

Really nice, Mike.  Some day I might build an appropriate structure just so I can use that type of shingle.  They were used a lot but seem not to turn up on layouts very often.  And yet they used on the sort of modest structures we like to model.

Mike, nice job of getting those shingles applied to the roof.
Interesting color that I don't remember seeing before on a roof.
But, then again, there's a lot of things I don't remember.  ;D

Howdy folks,

Curt, thanks for the compliment.  Indeed, two directions of alignment.

Jerry, thank you, Sir.  I have two layers of weathering on the shingles and three or four left to do.

Michael, thanks.  It is a unique shingle that I saw a lot of on old structures when growing up.  I hope I can do it justice here.

Rick, thank you, Sir.  I remember this type of shingle in green, white, and a muted red color on old gas stations and houses in the poorer parts of towns in Southwestern Oklahoma.  They were an asphalt composition, I think.

Ron, thank you for your kind comment.

Larry, thanks for following and sharing your comment.

Thanks to all who pass through and don't comment.

Have fun,

Howdy folks,

Work continues on the PO.  Today, I added the porch and sign, a hole for the chimney pipe, and designed and burned brick foundations using the laser.  The roof and porch got a couple of layers of weathering, but have more to do.

I'm wondering if I should use a light coat of IA on the white exterior to accentuate the battens...  The front mailbox got a coat of primer, so I hope to paint it olive drab tomorrow.

Here is a progress photo from today.

The build looks great. The weathering of course depends on how new you want the build tp be.

I'd do the A&I wash, even if this was a relatively new building.  It'll make the battens pop.

Are you modeling slate or asphalt shingles?  Looks like the latter.

Looks great Mike. I think a light coat of the A&I would really set off the battens.
