Starting on the front:

I've started working on the front of the diorama. Added 2 roads going to Hank's with dirt, weeds up the middle, and some gravel on top.Decided to paint up 2 of the 4 figures. I mounted the figure on a scale 3 ft. square piece of 110# paper then glued that to the foam. Dirt will cover the paper; with this process makes the figure much more stable.

Here's Jake Barlow starring at the engine on his old Ford TT pickup trying to figure out why it refuses to run; I mean it's not that old, it was his Pappy's after all.

Here's Herb busy working on the lathe. I colored and weathered a pallet then cut it in half to glue the figure to then glued that to the floor; provides a little more comfort for the men. All the figures I'm using are 3D prints from Rusty Rail, as is the pallets, colored with chalks, clear alcohol, and weathered with black chalks.

Next I'll continue working on the front, in between coloring my last 2 figures, laying down the scenery material. Also my SW order should be here today with a few more detail items which hopefully will be enough to finish off the diorama. Thanks for stopping by and for leaving all your great comments and/or suggestions.

Mike thank you for your kind words.

Jerry thanks; details do so much for a diorama.

Update time:

IMG_M0108.jpg

Managed to get another figure colored; this is Hank busy working at the milling machine. He was colored and weathered the same way as the previous figures were then glued to the other half of the pallet I cut. Then the whole assembly was carefully glued in place, and it was a tight finger fit, without breaking anything.

Finished up the scenery on the left front; I'm liking how this is turning out. The rocks are real borrowed from the driveway then used clump scenery material to look like overgrowth. I tried to vary the material to add some interest. Some of the area I put down light green flocking for scrub grass then added weeds, and lastly dirt. Other areas just dirt.

This is where I'm at for the moment and will continue on to the next section on the front with scenery material. Thanks for stopping by and for all your great comments and/or suggestions. Stay tuned.
