Wife was taken to the hospital late yesterday afternoon (intestinal blockage).  So I'll be heading back to the hospital in a couple minutes to see how she's doing.  The hope is once the pressure is relieved, it'll clear itself without surgery....   :-X

A neighbor came in and fed the dogs last night while I was away.  Of course, when I got home last night they told me "Where have you been?  We're starving!"

Dave, I hope your wife's obstruction clears on it's own and no surgery is needed.

All the best to your wife, Dave.

Off and on sun/clouds, cold in Michigan today.  Rain chance later.

Layout did receive some attention.

Batteries... >:( my 2020 Jeep Gladiator has 2 batteries, one 12v and a smaller 24v mounted below the 12v.  The miserable on/off engine cycle raises hell with the longevity and the electronics are dependent on the power as well, cost me several hundred with the family deal at my son's shop.  The late 90s Buick LeSabre my mother had was equipped with a battery under the back seat.  None of the counter jockey's at parts shops will enjoy doing either.  They don't last like they used to, either. Fortunately the on/off deal can be canx out on my Jeep.

The day is unplanned so far.

Be well all.

Good morning everyone,

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Rick, you would thing that changing a battery would be an easy thing.  :o  I don't know why vehicle manufacturers have to make changing regular maintenance items difficult.

Tom, nice little haul, have fun in the shed.

Larry, at least your lower back will get a good rest.

Curt, looms like you have a barrel farm there.  ;D

Dave, hope the wife feels better soon and that surgery isn't required.

Current temperature is 12c (53f) and overcast with rain in the forecast.  In fact rain is in the forecast for the next few days.  Took Gracie to the vet yesterday to see if she was limping for sympathy  ;D , turns out she wasn't as she has a shoulder issue  :( .  Pain medication for the next few days and no walks till the shoulder gets better.  I did make it to the bench last night and worked on assembling the first industrial building for the N scale modules.  Tonight will probably be spent painting detail parts while watching the hockey game.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning folks,

Rick, thanks for opening, coffee, and breakfast.  Ouch on the battery.  Good luck with it.

Tom, congrats on the cashout.  There is something restorative about the workbench.

Larry, congrats on the new computer desk.  Do you share it with the Mrs?

Curt, now that's a lot of detail parts to be painted.  Wow!

Dave, get well wishes for your wife.

Jeff, howdy.

Karl, you gotta love those unplanned days.

Ron, get well wishes to Gracie.  Good luck with the detail parts.

How is the rest of the crew?

It's an overcast morning with rain forecast for most of the day.  Yay!  We need it.

Today, I hope to spend upstairs getting started on the boxcar.

Have fun,
mike

Back from the hospital.  The block has cleared, the tube is out, and she's up and walking around (slowly, dragging an IV stand.)  They'll keep her at least one more night.  (I'm still wondering if there's a persistent partial blockage, something she should discuss with the doctor next time.)

Good morning everyone.

It's 39 in SLC now, sunny and 63 later.

Coffee, sodas and OJ are ready.
Belgium waffle machine is plugged in and ready to make as many as you like.
Sides of bacon and sausage are also out.
Of course there's real maple syrup and fresh churned butter too.

Dave, very glad your wife is doing better and hope she was able to go home.

Jerry, hope the wall is in one piece again.

Mike, has boxcar construction started?

Ron, we all know it all comes down to making more money.

Karl, more layout attention yesterday?

Curt, have fun with all those details.

Larry, sounds like you'll have more elbow room soon while being on the computer.

How's everyone else?

Star and I did a very nice 6 mile hike with 1,988' of climbing.
About 2 miles into the hike we encountered a large bison who standing about 50' from the trail.
I stayed about 100' away hoping he would move.
I took a video of him while I waited.
But he didn't move and decided to quickly walk past which happened without incident.
He was still there on the way back down and again was able to get past safely.
He looked older and not well.
All the other bison, about 200+, were down at ground level near the park entrance.
Did he go off on his own because he knew his time left was short?
Maybe.

I'm at the dealer and have an appointment at 8 to get the new battery.
A gym visit later too.

Here's the video of the bison and a little of the view: https://youtube.com/shorts/cTayzR2yVhs

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning,

Rick thanks for the coffee and breakfast. Sounds like an interesting hike. Animals know when their code date is about to expire many of them go off by themselves; I know cats will do that.

What's on your agenda?

It's a cloudy wet 45 with a high of 53; they're even using the "s" word again early next week. The Lilacs are starting to bud but may be cut short if it gets too cold. Going to Wegmans shortly for as few Rx's and some odds and ends. After that maybe some bench time.

Have a great and safe day!! Be well.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Rick. Interesting video. I think your thoughts on the Bison are correct.

Starting out here in the 60's heading to 91F later. Yesterday I finished spraying the resin castings and sprayed the white metal boats in a light brown. Later we met up with daughter's family for supper which was nice.

Today will be focused on packing and other miscellaneous things. We fly out early tomorrow to Harrisburg. Around the same time Dad flies to Hagerstown to spend time with my brother. Kathy and I will be back on the 8th and Dad returns on the 11th.

Not much else to report this way.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning crew,

Rick, thanks for opening, coffee, and breakfast.  Good luck with the new battery install.

Larry, hope your errands go well and that you make it to the bench.

Dave, good news about your wife.

Jerry, good luck with the wall.

How is the rest of the crew?

Another day of rain is in the forecast, and we need it.  Wildfires in South Georgia have gotten out of control.

Yesterday I finished the frame for the boxcar.  I left it in clamps for the glue to dry, and I hope to post photos of progress.  In this kit, instead of using full dimension wood, it laminates two pieces to get the full dimension.  I've had components drying in clamps for three days.  It looks good, though.

Have fun,
mike

I'm heading back to the hospital in a bit.  Hopefully wife gets released today, but then I'm sure she'll be on a restricted diet that I'll have to learn to cook...

Curt, a trip to Harrisburg?  How exciting!  ;)  Seriously, if Harris Tower is open, that's worth going to see.

I got a nastygram today from a forum member who was unhappy with our moderation approach.  That's too bad.  Moderating a forum, particularly trying to keep spammers out and vetting applications, is not fun.
