Butty Bob,

Thanks my friend. It was not as messy as I thought it to be.

Larry,

Thank you also. It turned out better than I thought.

The next photo shows the top of the left service building. After the layers of wall trim were added, it left several layers of boards exposed. These areas could be filled with putty, but I had another method in mind when the trim was added.

I planned to add a top plate to the walls.

The thickest part of the walls is a scale 12" thick at the top. I took a HO scale 2X12 and used this as the top plate.

I wanted to get a smooth look to the top plate and this is how I did it.

I used the floor as a pattern and placed the 2x12 under the short section of the floor. This also corresponds with the angle at the top of the wall. I used the metal square to ensure the correct angle.

This next photo shows the short top plate.

In order to get the next angle cut correctly, I simply placed the short piece on top of another 2X12 and made that cut.

Now I have the short piece and a longer one.

I wanted the top of the walls even and flat in order to get a good fit for the top plates.

I used the fine side of a sanding stick and lightly sanded to top of the walls.

I  then glued the short top plate in place and let dry.

You can also see how I planned to fit the longer top plate to the shorter one.

Here is a bird's eye look at the first four top plates glued in place.

Be back later. Pam's dinner bell is ringing.  ;D

You can see in the next photo how the 2X12 hangs over the front wall. This is where the canopy fits up against this portion of the wall.

The canopy fits snugly against this section and the 2X12 covers the top rear wall section of the canopy.

Done for today.

Tom your imagineering skills are great. If there's a good way to fix something you seem to find it; very well done. How was dinner? Like my grandfather used to say "Call me anything you want, just don't call me late for dinner".
