Good morning Everyone,

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Rick.

Weather today is 24c (75f) and mostly sunny with some haze.  The haze today is not as bad as it has been for the last couple of days.

Time for a Gracie Update. . . . .  The toxicology came back from her liver biopsy and are relieved to report that everything is normal, the nodes on her liver is not cancerous and was probably due to her gallbladder issues which has been rectified.  She has a vet appointment tomorrow morning to make sure that the incision is healing properly, but to me it looks great.  She is back to normal.

Back to me, I did make it to the basement yesterday but didn't work on any modeling as I didn't feel like it so I ended up doing some research on shadow boxes as next season's work project for the St. Lawrence Division (NMRA) is creating a model railroad related shadow box.   We shall see what tonight brings.

Have a great day everyone.

The birthday wishes are appreciated. Today I'm cast aside and the Doll's worshipful first born turns 50 and all attention will be directed his way.  :-X

It was quite smoky driving to town yesterday with the smoke.

This morning the Canadian Death Air is orange and is the odor of a campfire permeates every breath you take.

Dining out was an adventure last evening. First pick had an hour plus wait to be seated so we went South a couple of miles to the "dive bar" the Doll and I enjoyed last week. We were seated immediately by a table of two families of loud drunks and were subject to a near hour wait to be served as there was just one waitress who also was bar keeper for the day. Oh btw "we're out of whitefish and walleye". Halfway thru the wait they ran out of blue gills, so one of our group needed to settle for something else, perch. The Doll was happy with that. After the wait and the 'floor show' the drunk's kids were doing the splits while mom and daddy yelled and hollered.  :o  >:( Driving home I dodged 3 deer on the road.

Dinner was enjoyable though, really good and plentiful.

Back at home we had cake and giggles.

This am, the son's current significant other is frying up a ton of bacon and the Doll is burning waffles.  ;) A fine time will be had by all.

Air quality is nose diving all the way to the South state line.

Have a great day all. Stay well breath easy.

Ron, thanks for the Gracie update.  Karl, glad you didn't have to pay a 'cover charge' for the restaurant's "entertainment."

Dr visit went well.  A1C, blood pressure, weight all down.

When I was with the Sheriff's Department there was an area defense attorney that told me how much he enjoyed reading my arrest reports.

IN the year 1878 I took my degree of Doctor of Medicine of the University of London, and proceeded to Netley to go through the course prescribed for surgeons in the army. Having completed my studies there, I was duly attached to the Fifth Northumberland Fusiliers as Assistant Surgeon. The regiment was stationed in India at the time, and before I could join it, the second Afghan war had broken out. On landing at Bombay, I learned that my corps had advanced through the passes, and was already deep in the enemy's country. I followed, however, with many other officers who were in the same situation as myself, and succeeded in reaching Candahar in safety, where I found my regiment, and at once entered upon my new duties.    ;D

Good evening, all.  Karl, our sky looked that orange Wednesday. Luckily for me, I've never seen smoke as thick as your bridge cam shows, even driving Oregon-Arizona during the Summer 2015 fires.

The Gulf of Maine coast had Interesting weather today: 60s F at dawn, high 80s under bright sun around noon, strong winds blew clouds and then a sudden rainstorm out of the NW mid-to-late afternoon. I got pretty soggy putting our more delicate track tools away, the chickens' food dishes will probably need dumping when I shut them in tonight; nobody at home thought to bring them in when the rain started.

No modeling today, but an important turning point in my 1:1 double slip switch project: we decided we'd gotten the rails where we wanted them and began the spiking process. We'll continue tomorrow but I'll be lucky to finish much before month's end.

Morning greetings from the not quite so dense air of the UP. We've decided that this ain't no fun. We're gonna head home after our guests leave. We stayed inside all day and kept the air filtration system running. We miss the full a/c at home.

Everyone take it easy. Be safe. Breath easy.

James, that line of storms headed -just north- of us (traveling southeast).  We got dark skies, but very little rain.

Today looks perfect.  Low of 59, heading to 81, clear skies and substantially less haze.

Karl, sounds like 'heading south' is a good idea.  Hope traffic isn't too bad for you.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening Karl. Safe travels to you and the Doll.

Today for breakfast is coffee, cereal, bagels, yogurt, OJ, and soda.

Started out the day with a walk at 78F and high humidity. Well the sky was clear 30 minutes ago now it's turning grayish. Our area is supposed to get heavy rain thru Sunday.

Yesterday I attached the cupolas to the appropriate walls. The one wall was very fiddly but I got it done.

Today I think the 3 awnings on the end wall are what's next In the kit.

That's all I got.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning everyone.

52 in Salida, sunny in the AM clouds and some rain in the PM with a high of 74.

Curt, thanks for the coffee and breakfast and sounds like you're making nice progress on the kit.

Dave, enjoy the perfect weather.

Karl, too bad you have to cut your stay short and safe travels going back home.

James, congratulations on the track work and hope the spiking goes well.

Jerry, hope things are cooler in NJ today.

Ron, that's excellent news about Gracie.

TomO, how's the move going?

Jim, I'm glad you are enjoying the trail pictures.

Mike, hope Sharon's eye procedure went well.

Larry, hope it's less smokey today.

ACLTom, how are you?

Philip, good morning.

How's everyone else?

Had some thunder and rain here yesterday afternoon.
Colorado needs the rain for the drought conditions and to help get the wildfires out.
Spent the night here at the trailhead.
Last two nights in a row I slept longer than usual and only had to get up once to use the bathroom.
After I finish my coffee, I'll have breakfast and start the hike.
Yes, Star is coming.

This scene is at the trailhead of the Independence and Lost Man Lakes Trail I hiked on Tuesday.
