Good morning from So Central Wisconsin where it looks gloomy outside. 69 now 85f degrees later. The winds are calm as I wait for the Crew Van. Heading 45 minutes north for a work session.

The real estate deal, has promise but as I told the son last night it's way too risky for the economy in the tank like it is right now. He agreed and while it thinks it's worthwhile he wanted a second opinion

Hot and Dry continues in Michigan. The lawn looks like Nabisco shredded wheat, crunches as you walk on it. Little if any rain forecasted any time soon.

Distraction set in on the cleanup project. Maybe by Christmas. Outdoor activities this am after I fix something to eat. No shredded wheat.

Weekend starts early today, but then every day is the weekend

I hope your on the mend Curt. I did the same thing trying on shoes in a Walmart a couple years ago. A sudden odd twist is all it take in us ancients.

Mowed after the trip yesterday. All the weeds are knocked down again. Was a 4 hour battle.

Lil Phil is already gifted minus the cake and ice cream. Way early yet!
Provisional run yesterday went well.

The weather has been beautiful there.

At the house here it's just so dam hot and humid amazing that in 10 miles the weather changes that much.

Current weather is 26c (79f) and cloudy with 30% chance of rain in the forecast.  Hopefully I can get a walk in with Gracie before the rain starts.  NO modeling last night, I just didn't feel like it.  Plan to make it to the bench tonight as I would likw to put the turntable project to bed.

How's the rest of the crew today?

My turn to not get a good nights sleep.
Got up at 1:30 to use the bathroom and couldn't fall asleep again.
Laid in bed for an hour and finally decided to get up and start the day.
There will be a nap later.
I'll drive up the road to the trailhead to get some water before heading a bit north to the next trail.
That hike won't happen till tomorrow.

Howdy!

That is a fantastic scene on the Ice Lake Trail, Rick.

I will be doing yard work today. I actually enjoy it now. I used to dread it. It's also about the only time I spend outdoors. I am very much an indoors person. It takes me about 6 hours to edge, weed eat, mow and clean up both the front and back yards. Altogether it's about 1.25 acres and there is no flat portion to any of it. Our house is on a hill and both the back and front yards slope down away from the house.

Started out with a walk at 78F and higher humidity from all the recent rain with more to follow today and tomorrow.

Yesterday other than animal chores and a haircut I accomplished nothing. The back pain is gone, but I'm still stiff and a bit tender.

Today after chores I'll head to the workbench and try not to lean over so much.

That's it from humidity land.

Curt glad the back's better and yes don't lean over so much. For some reason at our age bending over from the waist is a bad thing.

It's a p cloudy 71 with a high of 84 and They are calling for storms later this afternoon. Starting tomorrow it's supposed to cool down a bit. Had some 1:1's yesterday to take care of but still managed some bench time laying down more scenery carefully.

Good morning. Wisconsin might be having a nice day today. It'd be better if it would rain for longer than 60 seconds. TV media guessers talked about rain yesterday. Our 2 rain events Friday afternoon were laughable. Less than 1 minute each barely getting the concrete wet. Almost crunchy and crispy like Karl's Michigan grass but nor shredded wheat crisp yet! It is 63f degrees, overcast now but it says clear and 85 this afternoon.

Rick, I have a partner I'm working with to scenic a section of the friend's layout by 10/17/2026. He has a crew coming from Tulsa. So yes the cardboard is cut from boxes using a Stanley knife. I spent a couple hours slicing the strips instead of recycling the boxes. The big old heavy paper cutter died as dull and $50 to get sharpened so I just sat in the garage a few weeks ago when at the old house and just kept slicing till the boxes were strips. Terry said last night unless I came up with some good suggestions we were staying home today. So since I have no clue we are staying at home today.

Picture 1 is the 2 deck area of work. It's about 40' long from a bridge on the edge of Negaunee, Mi. To the left of the upper deck to the switch to the Mather Mine around the right. The lower deck is the same  roughly 40'from the Champion lead around to the left to the Blueberry Mine around to the right near ishphemming Mi.

Picture 2 is just some cardboard lattice installed and picture 3 is Ai generated by having Google Gemini add the scenery to picture #2.

Sunset at home. 8-7-26

Sunny, warm and dry in MI this morning.  Dusty and crisp lawn. 

Rabbits have been in the daughter's gourd garden, control efforts later. 

The Doll is baking bread.  She surely will have the a/c rolling this morning, I'm planning on more cleanup time in the work room, did get some done yesterday, not that an outsider would notice. 

TomO, decent looking rendition of Negaunee and Ishpeming.  Roadbeds in that area tend to be dark colored from taconite spillage from the ore jennies.  I use 'free' boxes from Priority Mail to cut into strips for my layout.  Underneath in those photos of the layout looks a lot like my clutter collection.
