Hot and crunchy here in my back yard. The sky looks hazy/smoke.    Being Sunday I'd guess it might be Holy Smoke

Geek squad coming this afternoon to upgrade the Doll's computer system.

Started trimming a tree in back but the chain on my Dewalt is duller than a couple of my tries at humour

I only did 4 hours of yard work yesterday and that was plenty.

Karl, I bought a chain sharpening tool for my Stihl chain saw and it takes less than 5 minutes to sharpen the chain. I use it religiously each time I have to chainsaw anything. It has made it much easier and pleasant to make wood chips that way    Always wear chaps and eye protection.

You know, I really had no interest in bourbon as my knowledge of bourbon was "Southern Comfort" which is way too sweet for my liking.  It wasn't till I worked in Kentucky that I learned What real bourbon was.  Some of the bourbon that I had was as good as any scotch I drink.

It's 63 in Evergreen, a mix of sun and clouds and a high of 83.

Coffee, sodas and OJ are ready.
Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit Casserole for breakfast today.

Ron, interesting that there's no bourbon in Canada.
Do you know why?

Jamie, four hours in the yard definitely sounds like plenty.

Karl, that sure does look crunchy.

I hope everyone that hasn't check in in a while are doing well.

Ended up going to Costco yesterday.
Got out of there for less than $100 which is rare.
Then drove to a Park and Ride where I spent the night and met my friend.
Got to meet his girlfriend and she is very nice.
Hiking today and it will be a later start, 7:30, because they're not as much morning people as I am.

It was tough getting good pictures at Black Canyon NP.
Not a lot places where you get a good view into the canyon.
And the dark rocks and lack of sunlight in canyon was another issue.
This was the best view into the canyon I could get and the only place where you can see a little bit of the Gunnison River.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Rick. The blackness of the hills reminds me of volcanic rock.

Started out the day with a walk at 78F and high humidity. Yesterday I spent a couple of hours adding rafter tails to the build. It was mind numbing.

Today I hope to finish the rafter tails. I forgot we have screen repair guys coming to look at the pool enclosure. It needs redone badly but I'm sure it's $$$.

Rick thanks for the coffee and breakfast. Nice photo; I wonder if many people go there to rock climb. Have a safe and enjoyable hike. Nope didn't get around to mow maybe Tuesday if the weather cooperates. That what's nice about being retired....there's always tomorrow.

Curt hope the screen repairs aren't too much $$. There's usually something modeling wise that is tedious; that's when I turn on the "tunes" which seems to help.

Don't know if I mentioned it, old age I guess, but I did post another chapter to my blog a week or so ago.

What's your plans?

It was 58 on the back porch @ 5:30 am with a high of 84 maybe with some rain. Taking Ellie out this afternoon to get her out of the house for awhile; I hear Arby's roast beef sandwiches calling my name for dinner.....yummo. Maybe a little bench time beforehand.

Rick, the Black Canyon is a part of Colorado I've heard about, but never visited.  So many interesting places, so little time...   Because of the weather, the dogs and I have done early evening walks.  As long as they can get out and refresh their p-mail, they're happy.   Coffee roaster, gas, and grocery store, then back down to the train room.

Good morning. 68f degrees as is the dew point and 85 later. No breeze so it might be an indoor day depending on the humidity that bright now is at 98%.

September is our 2 birthdays and this year our 50th anniversary. The plan was to drive down to Texas to watch the Badger Women volleyball play in Austin, College Station and Waco while staying at the son's condo in Austin. Then fly to Maui to celebrate #50 on the 18th. Then fly back to Austin for abfew nights and drive home. We've been discussing this the last month or so. Terry's COPD has advanced enough that the temperatures over 85 are requiring her to use her oxygen full time! Texas temperatures for September are low 80's over night so after thoughtful conversation we cancelled Maui, the volleyball tickets have been sold and told the son we will visit in February. Neither of us are happy but there's no reason to head out when we know it's unhealthy.

TomO, sorry to hear that you had to cancel your plans, but one's health is important.

Hope ACLTom is doing well.

Current temperature is 20c (68f) and mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of showers.  Had a busy day yesterday with walking Gracie, doing the weekly grocery run and spending a little time with our daughter.  I even made it to the bench and made some progress on the turntable build, which is going really well.  Probably won't be any bench time tonight as I have a meeting to attend.

Weather in South Jersey is sunny/87 already. Later on 95.
When I was a kid and yes I was a kid a long time ago we use to love this weather.
My room is like to warm. To do anything.
But I'm getting a hell of a tan!!

What a difference a day makes!  ~.3" yesterday then overnight! T-boomers after 0300 dumped the rest.  It's level right at 3.0".  Morning weather guy reported 7"/hour rate of rain here where I am, official report location had 5". More of unknown amounts in next 2-3 days. Big early year freeze (-18^o)! killed Michigan peach crop this year but area grower says his apples look great.

Geek squad got the Doll's media center all set up, renewed 'puter and new 30"+ monitor, transferred thousands of images and loaded PhotoShop Elements'21.  Believe the last stand alone version of PSE, came on a dvd. All adobe is now downloaded from 'the Web' 


1:1 stuff outside later, it's hot and humid already. May get  a minute or two at the bench? Hmm will see.

TomO I was too brief in my 'shorthand' message. I have no more pics of the Brick station at  Negaunee but do have a few more of the freight station. None were posted.

Log cars at the Canadian National yard in Gladstone last month. Looks like pulpwood for the mill in Escanaba. Most goes by truck now it appears.

Good Morning All,

Today for breakfast is coffee, cereal, bagels, yogurt, pastry, OJ, and soda.

Yesterday I made it to the workbench (finished the rafter tails) for about an hour before MOH decided I could better spend my time running errands and going to Costco for Dad's new office chair (she never forgets). So, after Costco it was going to the P.O.and Publix for Dad. Definitely got my walking in since I did 4 miles before any of the rest of it.

Today the screen guys will be here pretty much redoing the entire pool enclosure for $$$ but it was about what I expected.
