Current weather here is 17c (61F) and light rain.  Calling for rain till Friday, at least the weekend was great.  No actual modeling yesterday, but I did do some cleanup of the workbench and did some sorting of detail parts.  Over the years I have collected a ton of detail parts, but I need to organize them to actually know what I have, that might be a lifelong project.  After checking this morning the Sculptamold is still not dry.  After seeing how AI did the scenery for the tunnel portal I might need to make some alterations in order to make it work, I have some ideas. 😊

Rick, there were news reports about a hiker who fell off a 14' near Aspen, his body was recovered by helicopters.  

Speaking of dogs, mine are at the groomers today, so I went and got a haircut in sympathy.  It's a lot cheaper to cut my hair (and that's not just because there are so few left to cut.)

It appears my laser cutter made it to the Amazon facility in Everett MA this morning.  They're still saying "delivery today."  

I got another kind of glue to try for attaching foliage to Woodland Scenic plastic armatures.

45 in Gillette, sunny and 80 later.

Coffee, sodas and OJ are ready.
Two eggs, bacon and/or sausage and hash browns for breakfast today.

Jerry, I hate to ask, but are the walls fixed?

Dave, actually, two hikers died on mountain trails this weekend.
Both trails had loose rocks and scree just like the trail I posted couple days ago going up to Hahns Peak.

Ron, guess you'll have to build more to use all those details. 

How's everyone else doing?

Change of plans for me now.
Heading straight home.
Started having pain on my left side Monday night.
Wasn't very bad and it subsided much during the day yesterday.
Last night, I woke up in the middle of the night and pain was much worse.
Got a feeling it's another kidney stone.
It's 519 miles to my house.
Don't think I'll make it there today.
I took some over the counter pain relief and I feel fine so as long as that keeps working I can take two days to get home.

I checked on an update on the man and his dog missing in the Wind River Range and they still haven't found him.

What's everyone else doing?

It's a cloudy 61 on the back porch with a high of 76 with rain this am. Started slicing and dicing foam yesterday and have the basic land figured out. Today I hope to blend it all together. Spent over an hour on the phone with my medical insurance company trying to get a claim sorted out. After talking to 3 different people I was ready to pull out the hair on my head; what little I have left. Supposed to get a call back sometime today so looks like my cell and I will be joined at the hip.

We had a great day yesterday. Saw 3 trolls and some "enchanted branches" which was the surprise troll! Meet Helmut, he is holding a livebtree

Here is Warren who resides inside an old train depot along the river front. The building is unmarked so I have no info on it though I will look today

Finally after a deep walk into the woods and a descent towards the Mississippi River I found the surprise troll called Enchanted Branches.

We had a great drive down. 2.25 hours through the back roads of Wisconsin and Illinois. Very little 4 lane roads but we moved nicely. Lots of corn and soy crops but the hills and valleys are worth using up some canvas to paint them. Maybe!

The drive home up the Iowa side of the Mississippi was spectacular and could only have been better in 2-3 weeks during the color change season. We left at 8:30 and arrived home right after 7pm. We visited some towns down and coming back we stopped at 2 River overlooks and in Bellevue, Iowa at lock and dam #12.

We saw only 2 barges on the River and both were at dam and lock #12. The restaurant we ate lunch at said they are seeing greatly reduced traffic on the river because the water levels are way down but the lack of grain exports hurts the most. Beyond that remark it becomes political also I shall refrain!

Gas pricing was a shock. Monday gas in Verona was $3.79 a gallon. Yesterday is was $4.01 at the same Casey's station as we drove by. In Monroe Wi at the last Kwik Trip b4 the Illinois line it was $4.09. About 15 minutes later in Illinois it was $4.29. We tried not to look after that

Rain in MI, nice and gentle.  It should be good for the large patch of grass we seeded yesterday where our huge spruce tree was removed a year ago. 

Had zero bench time, ending our work at dark.  Was a day outside, swept the lawn, trimmed a tree and worked up and seeded the open area from the spruce.  Ibuprofen is on the diet this morning and since it's raining, MAYBE the bench?

Nice troll photo, TomO, it sounds like a nice road trip..

Rick, hope the trip home goes ok.  Don't envy the stone issue, sorry it's happening again.  Nice, tho, that you've established a home base.

TomO, I remember reading an article about the geology of Wisconsin, which is much more interesting than I realized.  Unlike Michigan  it's not just 'limestone from an ancient shallow sea'.  But I've never been to Wisconsin (along with ND, SD and AR - I drove through Arkansas but didn't stop.) 

The laser arrived late yesterday afternoon.  I've unpacked it, and will finish the setup and testing today.  It's interesting to compare packaging and what's included between the two lasers.  I'll say that both show significant thought on packaging and accessories.  That's expected, it's part of the "maker philosophy" to think things through from the user's perspective.  The S1 is wider than the Falcon.  The first thing you see after you remove the top packaging materials are 2 straps that make it MUCH easier to lift out of the box.  The S1 also includes 4 clever magnetic material hold-downs.  The Falcon included safety goggles.  I could go on, but...  

First step after the machine is powered on will be to check and install any firmware updates.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast. Spectacular photo. I hope you remain pain free during your trip and that it's something minor.

Started out the day loading the van just after 0500 this morning. After that I did a walk at 77F and high humidity.

Last night on son's return a check engine light came on. He had it checked and it was for the ignition coil and spark plugs. So, after my walk the van went to the shop and MOH is impatiently waiting.

MOH is looking at KIA Carnivals to replace  the 2006 Sedona she currently uses. $$$$$
She needs something large enough inside to carry all the rescue c**p. It will pretty much be used as a work vehicle but for the rescue.

TomO I like the surprise troll the best.
