Curt, thanks for the reminder.
Happy Birthday Pam and Tom.

TomO/Tloc

Happy birthday to Pam and Tom. Thanks Curt for opening

Was my post yesterday deleted?

Good morning from a household returning closer (not there yet) to normal. 52f degrees now 74 later as this string of beautiful days continues.

I feel better and Terry feels good. Medicals are scheduled for 2 days next week. Thursday and Friday for additional testing (got to make money) and doctor consults. After that it's a trip starting Sunday 11/1 and then every other day for the next 5 weeks.

I went out yesterday to vote and then went with the grandson and purchased 2 more hockey sticks. (Wore the mask) He's grown and he busted one at practice Thursday. His 1st game as a AA bantam is against Minnesota teams in Winona, Mn on Sunday. It's a decently good old railroad town on the Mississippi River though I prefer Red Wing north up the river about an hour driving. Terry and I love the entire area and would loved to have made the 3 hour trip over if things were normal health wise. The Minnesota Equine and Equestrian Center is located outside the city and Terry has friends who are still working there.. There are still plenty of older now unserved railroad industries along the river to photograph. It's also a good college town so it's a vibrant not a dead river town. We were downriver 6 weeks ago in Clinton, Iowa another old river city and except for the 4 trolls was a dead river town with no vibrancy except the wooden trolls. So that tells you something

The other reason is we are going to game 2 tonight in Milwaukee. We did not go last night and gave the tickets to 2 of the grandson's hockey teammates. They will leave Sunday morning for Winona as they stayed at the SIL's dad's house last night and will again tonight after the game. 3 boys and 2 dads so it's a boys weekend for them. We are traveling 30 minutes after the game to spend the night at Terry's best friend's. Pat will then join us for the ride home Sunday. She's staying as long as she and Terry want.

Much to the daughter's dismay we are not tailgating before the game. She is driving over with us and tailgating before any game is a must for her and their friends as the boys will be set up. She was looking for another ride over. I pissed her off when she asked if she could have another ticket and I said no. They have 7 tickets tonight. Told her not giving her another ticket they say if I sold it is worth $3000 so she could hitch a ride to tailgate to have an extra beer or 2. We gave the last ticket to Terry's friend who will meet us at the game. Terry's youngest brother and his girlfriend of 28 years will pick Pat up and bring her. (The g/f refuses to ever marry again though they've lived together all those years).

Told the pissy daughter to watch her step because I have not decided game 6 or 7 tickets yet. I've been ornery the last month or so with her because she has a slight smell of entitlement around her and she was raised better than that. My tolerance levels for stupidity this month at at a very low level!

Be well

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Curt.

Thanks to all for the birthday wishes for Pam and me. We have a few plans today to pass the day away.

I do feel much better this morning after taking the pill yesterday afternoon. I only got up twice last night, normally 5 times. However, there still is some moderate burning, but not a bad as it has been. I'm happy about that.

Have a safe, happy and wonderful Saturday everyone.

Good morning everyone,

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Curt, hope you get the scaffolding finished.  Looking forward to your update.

Rick, Monday's explanation sounds interesting as well as the photo scavenger hunt , have a great day.

Mike, have fun running trains today.

Larry, the AI rabbit hole usually takes more time than expected.  Hope you make it to the bench today.

Terry, have a great day.

TomO, enjoy the hockey games.  Got to love the family drama, it seems that we all have that in one way or another. 😊

Tom, enjoy your plans with Pam today, glad to hear that the new meds seem to be working.

Jerry, Sometimes working on something else clears the mind so that when you go back to the "problem" build a solution appears.

Philip, have fun with the mowing, hopefully it's the last one of the season.

Current weather here is 2c (36f) and mostly sunny, high is expected to be 13c (55f)  I did make it to the bench yesterday while watching the hockey game.  Didn't do any modeling as I converted an old PC power supply to provide  +12v and +5V accessory power supplies for the layout.  Was interesting as when I tested the voltages with my usual digital tester the voltages I was getting was around 20v on the 12v rail and 9.6volts on the 5 volt rail. :o  I also have an "old" needle type tester that I uses instead and with it the voltages read correctly.  It turns out that the battery needed changing on the digital tester, it now reads the correct voltage. 8)

Note sure what today will bring, maybe I'll start stringing the low voltage accessory wiring or work with the planetary stepper motors that I plan to use for the staging yard turnouts or maybe work on the mountains.  Choices, choices, choices.

Have a great day everyone.

Karl, are those all dead/distressed pine trees in your photo?  Doesn't look good, if that's the case.

Good morning everyone.

47 now, a chance of some rain in the AM with a high of 54 later.

Coffee, sodas and OJ are ready.
Something a little different for breakfast today.
Everyone hop in my van and we'll go to the iHop and you can order whatever you like.  :)

Karl, interesting picture.
In the background is the yellow aspens or pine trees?

Ron, glad you got the power reading correct.
Have fun watching the race.
Should be fun watching Max and Kimi battle.

Philip, 1:1 prep almost done?

Jerry, I hope you don't totally give up on the shingles.
You're on the last wall and I'd love to see you finish something.

ACLTom, glad the pills are working and hope Pam and you had a great day yesterday.

TomO, glad Terry and you re feeling good.
Must have been extremely loud at the game again yesterday.

Larry, those rabbit holes will get you every time.

Mike, sounds like a fun day yesterday running trains.

How's everyone else?

Scavenger hunt was fun.
Including me, a total of 9 people showed up.
We split up into 3 groups of 3.
Got OK pictures of all the themes except a shadow.
It was so overcast and gray that there weren't any shadows.
I got to the park early and did a two mile walk with Star before the hunt.

Nothing planned for today yet other than working on yesterday's pictures.

After a day of taking pictures I'll go through them the next day and process the ones I think are best.
After a few months I'll go back to those pictures and look to see if I overlooked one that was worth processing and posting.

Good Morning All,

Thanks for opening and breakfast Rick. Pretty landscape picture.

Started out the day with a walk at 70F and damp from the overnight rain. Yesterday I didn't get as much done on the scaffolding as I wanted and it may be Wednesday before I get back to it.

Today along with the regular chores is cleaning up from yesterday's rescue event. MOH made it home at 0130 this morning.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning,

Rick thanks for the trip to iHop and the breakfast was great. Enjoy your "non planned day." Nice photo and yes the rabbit hole will get you every time.

Curt sorry you didn't get as far as you wanted on the diorama. Sounds like MOH maybe looking at a nap later.

Ok, we're in the last week of October....where did the month go??

What's happening in your neck of the woods?

It's a clear and frosty 30 with a high of 65. This afternoon I need to wash the back porch floor while the weather is still decent. An update shortly then maybe some bench time this am.

Have a great and safe day!! Be well and heal up if needed.

Rick your pictures are making me wish I was 10 years younger and smarter. You have visited some absolute gorgeous spots in the USA and captured them in photos that are just inspiring. I've been to a few of the locales but never hiked them to what is now a touch of regret on what we missed. Well done!

I used to love the Sunday rides in the old Crew Van at the RRL Forums and still miss a few of the guys. It's too bad Bernd, Bruce, Pete and Jim among some others did not migrate over.

We are home where it's 53f degrees heading to another beautiful day near 75. This gorgeous weather though will be paid in full I'm sure this winter.

While not as loud as game 2 of the last playoff series last night was more intense. Even though the Rays scored 4 in the 1st you could feel the crowd willing the Brewers on. The 2 scored on the bottom of the 1st sure though was helpful. Everyone there knew the game would get tied up eventually! Wow what a bullpen the Brewers have. When Frelick hit the homer in the 6th to finally tie game you knew the win was coming though again the top of the 9th was a nail biter. I don't see the Rays winning 4 of the next 5 but they play the games for a reason. What a night.

Instead of driving to Racine Terry's friend brought her suitcase with and we came home last night pulling in just after 1am. Everyone in the booth had a great time and the daughter survived not being able to tailgate for 3 hours before game time! If there is a game 6 we have 6 on the 20 seats in the booth, if there is a game 7 we have 14 of the 20. Honestly when Terry said she wanted the tickets and we discussed the price I thought she was nuts. But it has been worth every penny spent and then some. We were in college when Bud Selig purchased the Seattle Pilots out of bankruptcy and moved them to his hometown. Terry with her dad and 3 brothers were at the 1st 2 home games in old County (a dump) Stadium! It's been great to see her happy!

We both seemed ok during the game though Terry fell to sleep I think as she was clicking the seat belt. The daughter drove with me riding shot gun. It took about 30 minutes to get out of the stadium lot onto I94 but traffic while heavy for 10 miles broke up after that. I have learned the last 4 years how I don't always have to be the driver.

Today I hope Terry is ok but I could see her weakening in the latter innings of the game. She insisted she was well enough to go and there was no sense in arguing about it. We went and she had a great time.

I do have a friend coming over today around 3 to discuss the paper mill project for his PNW based layout. He needs a backdrop for the paper mill and we are going to look to Ai for some help. Basically today he's getting a lesson on using Ai to create the backdrop. I have a paid version of ChatGPT which I feel is the best illustrator of the Ai assistants I have tried. I will guide and help but he is creating this not me. His daughter was going to paint the scene but the timing is wrong. She is pregnant and bed bound since the 7th month. She and the baby (#2) are doing fine! We can create the scene, save it to a file and the local sign company will print it to size for him.

Here is a picture of the scene I have been co-creating on the Michigan UP layout. This was taken Friday, trees are coming after the lower level is ready

Morning all,

Thanks for taking us to IHOP Rick. I had a stack of four pumpkin pancakes. Most excellent.

TomO seems like you all had a great time. Glad Terry was up to going.

Pam and I had a wonderful day yesterday. Must have had 30+ phone calls from family and friends. We started the day at the used book store where I found four books I haven't read. They are from two series of books I'm reading in order.

Pam has bowling practice at 10 this morning, I'll go and watch. No way I'm ready to bowl and put extra pressure on my sore bladder.

This afternoon I plan to spend some time in the train shed. I plan on making a list of things I want to get done. I'll try to list the  projects in order of importance.

Have a safe, happy and healthy day everyone.
