Get it from eBay if you missed out when first released.

I'm not sure how this will work for the buyer since the kits haven't shipped yet. But hey, it's eBay.

Unfortunately as FOS have probably already taken payment on order they are legally bound to honour the order from this rip-off merchant however distasteful..........

The seller is offering free shipping though.

Notice no bids yet! It will be interesting to see if someone was asleep at the switch and actually has the money to throw at it for being a few weeks late to the party. I guess there are a few model  railroaders with an unlimited budget, I just don't know them.

I can understand someone new to the hobby paying top dollar for a kit that was produced 10 - 30 years ago (been there done that), but not a new release. As they say, " there is a sucker born every minute".

* talk about "extremely rare"

Item was relisted and it sold. Not for the record price that Red Hook fetched though...

Wow ,. should I sell mine and ask Doug to ship it to another address, just kidding.

Are you allowed to sell something on Ebay you don't have yet?

BTW , when will these be shipping?
I love photo's, don't we all.

He/she must be a forum member.  From the ended listing - BECAUSE OF COMPLAINTS, I'VE CLOSED THIS LISTING.  I APOLOGIZE IF I'VE OFFENDED OR ANGERED OTHER MODELERS WHO WANTED THIS KIT.  WITHOUT GETTING INTO DETAILS, I SELL ITEMS ON EBAY TO EARN EXTRA MONEY BECAUSE I HAVE TO.  AGAIN, I APOLOGIZE.

Hey, it's worth a try.

I tried to look it up regarding eBay allowing sales of items not available from the seller. However, I could not find anything. But I may not have looked in the right place.

Personally, it's kinda risky to pay that much dough for an item that Fos has not shipped yet. I don't doubt Fos will ship the item. But, who knows what can happen in transit. The UPS truck could drive off a cliff. Or, space aliens could abduct the UPS truck...

Anyway, this seller has done this for a while now. He/she purchases one of Fos' limited kits and the free kits when available and resells them on eBay.

Initially Doug mentioned on his website that the kits would likely ship at the end of the year or first of next year. Doug did point out not to expect the kits before Christmas.

I have no ill will towards either the buyer or seller of Fos. I'm just reporting a crazy eBay sale.

It's not easy selling stuff on the 'Bay. I tried it before with rare, out of production, limited run FSM kits and only made about $20 on each sale. I could have made more money had I invested in something like gold or silver or lottery tickets. But hey, they're just toy trains.

I saw the same thing done with Red Hook. It was listed before it shipped, AND if I remember correctly, someone bid on it. BEFORE DOUG SHIPPED IT.

I guess that ll of this can be chalked up to our free enterprise system but I think some people need to be reminded that this is a hobby.

Picture here a bunch of buzzards hovering in an old Randolph Scott western movie.

Just thinking out loud.

Did you ever notice how many towns are named after their water towers ! ?

NEMMRRC

I wonder how many kits will actually end up built.
