LCut Laser Small Goods Shed

Further to my post on the laser cut baseboards I decide to build a small layout.

In researching structures for this I came across a new company offering laser cut components that go together to create the structure of your choice. You can buy brick walls that interlock at the corner, roofs, stairs, loading platforms, windows and doors to make into buildings. The parts are beautifully laser cut from a thick board material that can be easily painted.

I bought one of their small kits for $14 to try out and I am very impressed. The kit uses a bundle of components from their inventory of parts. The set up is rather like Linka or Lego in that you can order parts to design a unique building.

Here is the box together with two pictures of the parts. I have already spray painted the brick walls.

First the tabs have to cut off the walls. These tabs identify the part number.

The walls interlock at the corners and here are the four walls ready to be erected. The wooden scribed floor fits inside the building to keep it square.

The walls interlock together and then the floor fits into the door openings. I glued from inside to keep everything neat.

Next up I am preping the parts for the roof. The tiling is etched into the parts. As I said the parts are universal and in the case of my model the roof needs to be shortened.

The little steps are a joy to make...........

The loading platforms are next the three walls interlock and the wooden platform is fitted.

Continuing........ I decided to enhance the awnings supplied with the kit by covering them with Redutex corrugated iron sheeting. Similarly I added some scale wood to enhance the detail on the doors.

Here are the parts for the awnings/canopies. I stained the bottom of the canopies and rear of doors with a brown marker.

Here is the structure with the platforms attached each side.

Continuing.... here are the doors attached to the building.

Next up the roof. This features laser cut tiles and roof cappings.

The finish..................I painted the roof with an acrylic grey paint and then used chalks to weather the structure.

Though this is a $14 building in OO 1:76 scale it fits nicely into this otherwise "american " scene.
