Morning. Rainy here in the northeast corner or Mass this morning, dashboard says 53 degrees. Supposed to be rainy or damp most of the week thru Easter. I won't complain because of the ongoing drought since last year.

Quote from: jbvb on March 06, 2026, 01:30:38 PMJames, the one in the photo was approximately in the 60 thru 70 block of Merrimack St. I remember they made a big deal about finding the frame of it back in the 1970's. The other one was across Main St on Water St where central plaza is now.Quote from: Raymo on March 06, 2026, 01:03:32 PMNot the greatest photo, but this shows one of the diners in Haverhill buried in an alley way. Photo taken during the 1936 flood
Is that 196 Merrimack St.? Other possibility is 196 Washington St., next to the now-condos Bixby Box Toe factory.
Quote from: deemery on March 06, 2026, 09:40:32 AMRaymo, any back-story on that picture? Looks like the diner didn't want to sell, and made them build over top.Dave, it was in one of the big cities in the Merrimack Valley, definitely not Haverhill, although there was a similar setup in downtown Haverhill where they stuffed a Worcester dining car in an alley and built over it.
We got about 2" here, snow and sleet.
