Baggage Car - Daily Chat / Re: Fat Tuesday

Cloudy weather, a bit above freezing, chance of light snow or rain.  We're off to a lecture on back surgery in a bit.

When I get back, I'll add the corner posts to the farmhouse, and make a decision about its orientation on the layout.  Get your votes in!  https://modelersforum.com/index.php?topic=7391.90

Good Morning,

Sounds like everyone is having a productive day so enjoy.

It's official folks, the Laundry room is FINISHED. It was sorta like trying to paint a big closet only around vents and faucets but it's done.

It's a cloudy 40 with misty rain and really foggy; I guess it's the warm air and the cold snow. High is going to be 42 so They say. Not sure about the rest of the day so we'll just have to wait and see.

Have a great day!! Be well.

Baggage Car - Daily Chat / Fat Tuesday
Last post by KentuckySouthern - February 17, 2026, 10:45:49 AM
Good late morning from mostly sunny mid Michigan. We have warmer temperatures than average this week and the loss of snow is significant.

Paczki day at the. Bakery. Before they were commercialized this was the only day that they were made, in honor of Fat Tuesday and tomorrow's beginning of lent. Too much money to be made to keep the tradition alive

OPS went well at Kenney's I ran a couple of switching locals and enjoyed everyone there as the day went on.

I noticed a special visitor at the passenger station. You never know what you might see when the layout owner has grand kids  ;D

I think I could get a little more done on the layout if I shuffle the cards right.

So what's up where you're hiding this morning

Looks great Mike. I think a light coat of the A&I would really set off the battens.

Thanks Mike, I am modeling the same era as you and have the same philosophy.

37o already this morning after going to 53o yesterday.  We've lost lots of snow. Lots.  Currently it is grey and there is talk of rain later in the day or overnight.

OPS went well, we had a full crew and ran plenty of trains.  I ran a couple of switching locals that I enjoy the best, using the Baldwin VO-1000 I've showed here before. I opened it up on return home yesterday as it has a light sound like a gear train related rattle.  I found a power wire from one of the trucks that could have been touching the flywheel.  I relocated it a slight bit and called it good.  We'll see how it goes from here the next session.  The only other thing I found was a bit of fuzz, dog hair, around one of the axles that was a bit greasy.

That's it from here.  Little good news around, the daughter's father in law is quite ill with "C" in the throat, diagnosed late as they kept checking a lower irritation and ignoring difficulty he was having swallowing.  Such a nice fellow, hoping the best.

Today I will try to get some layout or bench time in.  We'll see how that goes.

All I have, hoops later if the mood strikes, Sparty has not played well lately.

Thanks Curt, and those tine details are in O scale, I would hate to do them in smaller scales.
