Morning. A quiet cool 4th of July here in on the banks of the Merrimack. Windows are open, and the AC is getting to take a break. Too nice to be inside, I'll work outside today.

Yeah, a very nice 4th of July weather-wise.  Our dog who had the dental work Wednesday went back to the vet yesterday to get a bit of painkiller and appetite enhancer.  She wasn't eating.  That worked, this morning she ate everything but the stuff wrapped around her pills.  Time to try something new for the pills...

Happy Independence Day!  We're going to have a sunny day in the upper 80's.  We're going to our great grandson's 4th birthday party this afternoon.

Happy 4th of July for all in the US. No matter if you like current events or don't it is a remarkable country for all. Having visited all the inhabited continents (sorry Antarctica to cold for me) and more islands than I can count, ours is a unique country. I was born during the time of Mccarthyism and the media was crying that the country was about to fall apart, everything was unfair we needed to change our ways or lose all we hold dear. I grew up during Vietnam and just fill in the above sentence. I lived through Jimmy Carter telling us our best times were past and I watched us fight unending wars, most I never did figure out why. All the while the media said the same, we are doomed if we don't change our ways. Apparently crying doom sells and what the heck you're bound to get it right once, not sure why anyone would would want to be right but all things do come to and end. BUT NOT TODAY. That is what makes America unique and something to aspire to become part of. We simply say, we will not fail today. As a nation our differences are our strength. We make so many mistakes you can not count them, but unlike the vast majority of countries we make sure all know them, and we fix them! Look back over our almost 250 years and look at the incredible number of improvements, expansion of rights and liberties and technological advancements we have had, not just for ourselves but showing the world. We remain the beacon of hope for the world. I am proud to be counted an American, my allegiance is to my country and is not dependent on what party is in power. I thank God every day for the gift of being born here. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA, may you live at least another 250 years!

Morning all,

Happy Fourth!

It's already "feels like" 94 degrees here and headed higher.   I will take a short walk soon, followed by lunch.  My afternoon project is to repair a custom bookshelf in our family room which my wife managed to break Wednesday.   :P

Let's be careful with the fireworks today, or even better, leave it to the professionals.

Good afternoon, all. Happily, last night's party down the street got pretty quiet at 10pm.  Possibly the policeman who lives farther down the street had something to do with that.

It's been windy all day in the lower Merrimack Valley. I've been working on the computer all day, time to step away.  Enjoy the 4th!

Good afternoon, All, and Happy Fourth!  It's 87 here in the northern mitten, feels like 92 and is "mostly sunny," or some such.  Hum-diddy is listed as 52% at the airport, so you work the math....  Bleah! Good day to be on the Bay or downstairs.  I need to go get changed to go to dinner at friends' home, and figure out what to do about the "Don't Bring Anything except an appetite" instructions the hostess has issued....  May go with a taste of local grape that they can serve, save, or use when the train group shows up in the fall.  Hmmmm....

Fireworks demos are fine here....  Can't see the ones in town, but I get lovely groups from folks across the Bay, and I have a couple of neighbors who share their industrial strength shows with the world... one up the road who does it from his driveway (not smart as the hot stuff lands in the trees) and one down the road who does it from the very end of his dock (far brighter idea).

Be positive, test negative, and stay safe!
