Wow Frank, some more cool pictures.  You don't need the expert from out of town to take pictures of your layout,  You are the expert.

Bob,

Thank you for stopping by. Glad you like the pics. Here is another one in the town of Little Falls. Check out the fishing camp sign. Lot of details to be completed in this town as well. Making good progress, but as you know, it all takes time.

Good Afternoon Everyone,
As I mentioned earlier, I am working on the details in the town of Little Falls. This town is divided by a river with sidings on both side. the right side of town is basically done, but the downtown area still requires some work. I have attached two photos showing some of the detail that has been done. The water tower net to the station is complete, but the ground around the tower needs to be added. Perhaps a few more trees might be added, as well. Hopefully, this part of town will be completed next week. In the meantime, enjoy.

Good morning all,

I have put off making streets in Chester. It is the only remaining major item that is needed. I have been experimenting with two materials; styrene or grout. Early on I utilized grout on a small section. To continue, I had to take all the structures off the city section of the layout. Actually these structures are glued to sections of styrene to allow easy removal. After removing all the city structures and some of the individual structures in the foreground, I was ready to pour strees. Well almost. I made styrene patterns of a portion of the city building base. This allowed me to pour and screen to the styrene level. Then after curing the building modules are dropped in. Well, after 6 hours of curing the grout, it was time to test (a) removal of the templates and the(b) fit of the building module. Well, everything worked out very well. So now I can continue pouring streets in Chester. I really like the texture that grout produces. I'll post a pic soon to show everyone the results. Have a great day.

Afternoon Frank,

You have been very busy on the layout and it shows my friend. The work is super and well done. Who knew scenery and pulling a layout together would be so much fun? 8) 8)

Tom,

thank you for your kind words my friend. Progress is being made daily. As you know, the devil is in the details. installing streets in Chester using tile grout. Really pleased with the results, even thought it is time consuming. Here are a couple of pics.  Once the photography session is over, I am going to get back to building a couple of structures. Here is a hint: Yakima Apples or what ever you want to call the business. I miss building structures.Have a great day my friend.

Looking good Frank, I've never used grout for roads, I'll have to try it. Who makes the cool Victorian house in the background?

I used grout for a concrete road years go and liked the way it came out. Very labor intensive, but the results were worth it, especially when I got finished with the expansion joints and sawcuts.

Good Morning Steve,

Thank you for stopping by. The Victorian house is made by Classic Miniatures and is called "Leadville House". About $50. I have seen a couple of these buildings modeled with heavy and derelict weathering / abuse and they looked great. It would look great as a run down structure on a hill. Unfortunately, I did not see this until after I was done with this build and the building is "permanently in the scenery". My bad.

I have seen several street materials and selected two street materials on my layout. Styrene and grout. I prefer the grout ( De Lorean grey)because the texture and ability to weather (A&I) or (pastels). I have scribed lines and weathering cracks in the grout. With a little A&I, the cracks really pop. I'll take some close ups to show you what I mean.

Have a great and enjoy the white stuff. Going to be 83 today. Too hot to soon.

Greg,

i agree, I have made the expansion joints and saw cuts as well. Mostly up close for viewing.  The only negative is the amount of time it takes to pour roads. Long dry time and quite a bit of troweling to get good smooth looking surfaces.

More pics soon.
