Frank, It's looking better every time you fill in a section.

Thanks Andy,

I have made more progress today on the scenery. I have added some internal bracing, cardboard grid and plaster impregnated cloth around the tunnel portal. Before I can proceed in this area, I need to add one or two pieces of track on the line to the steel mill another tunnel portal, etc. Looks like this will get done tomorrow because I am being called to a birthday party and I am the chef.

Have a great weekend.

Got quite a bit done so far today. Put some paint on a portion of the sculptamold, added more cardboard bracing, another tunnel portal, a three foot piece of track and so on. I am awaiting aa code 70 right hand curvable switch, hopefully arriving via UPS shortly. A little more cork, piers for a trestle, lots of plaster cloth and sculptamold and  etc, etc...

The UPS man showed up just before dinner. Dinner is over and the wife is watching "Dancing with the Stars" and I am in the train room cutting the curvable switch to the right position, install wiring and form the next two sections of track. Oh yes, I forgot, drill the hole for the switch machine throw rod. this has been a good modeling day.

Good Morning David,

You know that li'l Tommy and I are both left hander's, don't you? That means were obsessive / compulsive, what ever that means!!! I can't wait until he starts the new build, because when gets started, look out. He is going to be on a tear.

My switch showed up late yesterday and I roughed it in last night. I will be putting some more plaster cloth on today, glueing down the track and installing the switch machine. Once that is done, i can look at the placement of the foundry, install the switch and track, then scenery. It is coming along, but still a long way from completion. Thanks for stopping by.

Frank,
Great work on your layout.  You probably have a tons of these cars; but I bought one when I lived in Portland and was thinking of doing a NW layout theme

John,

Thanks for stopping by. As far as the Yakima apples car goes, I have none. There was one of these cars on the original model that I saw years ago, but I have not seen any for sale. I guess I will just have to keep looking. My railroad has a variety of scene themes including the Pacific Northwest, Pittsburgh, Chicago, New England and the like. give an interesting look. Next major project is making a lot of pine trees.

Thanks for taking a look.

Good Evening All,

First, John I got your PM and I am looking thru my boxes to see what might fit.

Secondly, here is a photo of the Essex Fells Junction taken today. The hillside at the back of the opening has an application of sculptamold, and will be painted when it dries. The rock walls along the left side of the cutoff have been painted as well as the rock walls on the main line near the tunnel. The rock walls are from Cripplebush and I am very pleased with the product. For those that have seen my layout, you know that I have quite a bit of this product. The hillside will be covered with trees, but that will in the near future, once I make them  ;) ;) ;) The track siding off to the right is the feed track for the steel mill. It crosses over a hidden helix and crosses the cutoff as it enters the steel mill area. A tunnel portal and side walls have been added. It is at the end of the dual track on the right. Once the track has been totally installed on the cutoff and to the foundry, I will install the diner, foundry and Martin's machine. I also have to install a lake and the waterfall. Whew!!!

Good morning Greg,

Thanks for stopping by. Yes, I have been quite busy; both with the railroad and the backyard. The yard is coming along nicely. Still a long way to go on the railroad, but enjoying the journey. Progress in the Essex Fells Junction has been faster than I imagined. If I don't keep up this pace, ACL1504 will be passing me, because once he gets started, he is going to go real fast. Enjoy your rain.
