Frank,

Thanks for posting the other pictures. I think the combination is brilliant! I feel like I'm looking into the track area as if I was there, good shot!

BTW: How do you plan to colour/weather the station roof?

Martin,

Glad you enjoyed the extra photos of the two buildings. There have been a couple of modelers that have done similar building arrangements.

Regarding the coloring of the station roof, There is a natural burn mark created from the laser. I have tried to assemble as many of these as possible. I cannot remember what I put on the first model that I did for Robert Seckler. Go to his thread and you will see it there. I typically make a test panel to evaluate colors, A&I, markers and other weathering methods to evaluate the final weathering. I typically save most of the weathering to the end. That prevents smearing and other issues that I want to prevent. I still have a week or more of shingle work, cupola and then the final passenger cover to complete. My guess that there is still another 30 days or more to completion. Stay tuned.

Okay, it is July 2nd and I am still applying shingles on the station. It's not that I am slow, but there is a bunch of cutting. Angles, straights, multiple cuts of every piece. Its getting a little tiring. I started applying shingles back on June 10th. We took a week off to take the family to Costa Rica, but I am still working on shingles. As you look at the model you will see that I am about half way done, but look at all those dormers!!! OMG, there are a lot of them. All those angles. Well, maybe a few more weeks and it will be shingled. I Hope!!! ;D ;D ;D

John,

Good Afternoon,

I have done that same thing once. Weird. Yup, lots of shingles. I rake some pods, then come in and cool down and install more shingles. Talk about a boring time!!! The dormers are killers. I figure a couple of hours, at least, per dormer.

Our temps are ranging in the 110's plus. No rain in sight. I work outside very early in the morning, then come in to hibernate. Funny how this goes. I assume that you AC in and working smoothly.

Good Morning All,

Yes I am still applying shingles. In some areas, its one at a time. That's the bad news. The good news is that one side is done and the other side is partially done. The steeple is built and still needs, you guessed it , shingles. and a weather vane. Probably another week of shingles, more or less, probably more! This is the most tedious part of the build, but the final result is great, so I need to stop complaining. After shingles, the major remaining project is the passenger cover, which is not shingled, thank goodness. The good news is that i can see the end of this build. Enjoy.

Good Morning everyone,

Yes, I am still installing shingles. The track side of the station is ALMOST complete and the other side is about half complete. I have added the cupola. It is not yet quite finished, but I wanted to see it in place. The weather vane is installed, but needs weathering. And, of course, there are a few remaining shingles to be installed. Probably another week and a half to complete the shingling. Total time for shingles, about 6 weeks. WHEW, time to move on and finish this station. Enjoy.

Looks great Frank.

Good Morning Dustin,

Thanks for stopping by. Glad you like the progress. Progress is slow and not steady. lots of interruptions. The trackside of the station is now done. WHEW. The cupola with weather vane is complete, but will not be installed until the last of the model is complete. Too many opportunities to bump it. Stay tuned.

Good Morning Tom,

John is going to have to wait a long time for the third station since I promised it to my neighbor and he has a spot for it on his layout. since john will be out here next year, he might want something to do, I could see to it that he has gets instructions on how to build this beast. speaking of which, how about some more pics of the ovalix. By now it is probably as tall as you are. Pics please.

That is a very nice looking station.

Thom,

Thanks for stopping by. This is actually my second scratch build of this station and a third one is still in pieces in a box under the layout. I swapped this scratch built structure with a kit from SRMW that Robert Seckler had. The third station is for my neighbor and long time train buddy. Here are a couple of pictures. the  first is a watercolor done by Randulph Bye, at watercolorist, of the original station, and then several pics of the  first structure that I built for Robert.  Stay tuned.
