Frank,

The tree are looking great.  Also, your photography of your layout is wonderful.

Top of the Morning Steve, Thank you for your kind words. If you think the photos look good, you need to come up and see the layout in person. It is really taking shape. Yes, there are still a lot of areas in these photos that need to be filled in, but the magic of the camera sometimes hides those details. I am now working on filling in those details so everything will look good to the eye. If you get the urge to travel north, let me know.

Talk to you soon.

Looked up the Cripplebush site http://www.cripplebush.net/ , great looking products but lots of money , I'm not saying expensive, but lots of money.
I love photo's, don't we all.

Jan,

I won't argue with you on you statement relative to cost. A couple of suggestions regarding purchasing these products.  If you are at a trade show, ask if they give a volume discount. Most vendors will because it is less they have to pack and take home. That's what we did the first time we purchased some. It was a sizable discount. Look at the product and ask yourself if it is worth the price. You don't have to buy any casting molds, plaster, etc... A sheet of this product goes a long way, most of the time. It's quick. Hot glue, a glove and a surface to glue it to. From my experience, other rock techniques are much more time consuming. The product looks great and is easy to paint. And the paint stay's on. A while back he had a bad batch of resin and the product did not really set up correctly. He replaced all the bad material with new at no cost or shipping to me. And several years had transpired during this period. I went to use it and it was a soft black mess. I called him and explained what had happened and sent replacement parts at no cost or postage. That's a good supplier. He has my recommendation. Because you live across the pond, I can see your point. it would be very expensive to purchase it and send to you. Perhaps you might come to the Amherst Train show in late January. He will be there. Just bring an empty suitcase!!! Maybe a suitcase full of money on the trip over and then it becomes a suitcase full of rubber rocks on the way home!! Only kidding. I do really like the product as you can tell. And I have my wife to thank for finding it!!!

Thanks Frank, the product looks great and when you say the service is great I believe you , that's also why I said not expensive just a lot of money. Expensive is when you pay a lot but could have gotten the same product for less or a better product for the same amount , a lot of money is when I think it is worth it but my budget is just not up to it  ;)

And visiting a show ( probably the Expo ) in the future is no.1 on my bucket list. In 2022 I will be visiting the NMRA convention , it will be in England that year.

Jan,

We all are on a budget. I'll check and see if I might have a small piece around and if you like, I could mail it to you. Send me a PM with your address. As far as the Expo, last year was my first and I had a great time. I would certainly go again. and yes, I know about the 2022 NMRA National meeting in Manchester. I would certainly love to go there. I used to travel on business to England several times a year and always enjoyed the trip, except for the roundabouts. My wife and I have been to England many times and have ridden trains all over the countryside. I'll have to mention the convention to her and check her interest.

Over the past couple of weeks I have been working on the scenery for South Orange. Lots of detail scenery and ballast. This is somewhat of an aerial view. Gives you a better look at more of the layout. Off in the distance is Essex Falls. Still a boat load of details to accomplish.

Frank,

Great picture and the work you've done is fantastic. This scene is one we haven't seen at least from the perspective of the location on the layout.

Wonderful, Wonderful as Lawrence Welk used to say.

Very very nice Frank.  No wonder you have been so quiet the past several weeks.  You have been busy on the layout and not the computer. It is getting there and look great.

Tom,

Thanks for your kind words. Yes, I have been very busy working in several areas on the layout including the most recent ones. This is the town of South Orange and is a very small element at the end of the right portion of the layout. The trolley line will extend north to the town of East Orange, a very short distance. Actually, the town of South Orange has two levels. Here is a pic of the lower level with some structures that are probably familiar.

It is hard to believe that Lawrence Welk still has a TV show even though he has been gone for many, many years. And yes, I am old enough to remember sitting in front of our 7" TV watching his show.

Good Evening Steve,

Good to hear from you. Yes, I have been busy working on scenery. Lots of it. Slow but steadily, I am making progress. As we both know, the devil is in the details and I have been working to add as many as possible. Talk to you soon.

I have been working on track ballasting and scenery in East, South and West Orange. Just a little bit at a time. The photo below shows The main yard in Hoboken on your right and the passenger station in the center. To the left of center is, and will be, when completed, an elevated trolley line from South Orange to East Orange. A street will run under the elevated to the station. Taking these type of photos lets me plan out my final design of each segment of the layout, so I take a lot of photos.

Great photo & work Frank.  8)

I remember the "Oranges" from when I used to visit some of Dad's relatives. I can't remember which one, maybe East Orange?, but it wasn't that far from Lyndhurst.

Greg,
Didn't know you were a Jersey boy. Thanks for stopping by and glad you enjoy the progress. Plenty to do all the time.

Your Lawrence Welk stores bring back some childhood memories of my Grandmother.  She watched the show and every time that Irish guy sang her dog would bury his head between the cushions on the sofa. It would be a great U-tube video now.
