Looks good Frank.....it seems that residential areas are not all that common on most layouts.  8)

I like the Victorian in the back ground, who makes that one?

Andy,

I believe the house is the Leadville house from Classic Minatures. /i don't know if they are still made, but I have seen them at swap meets, and of course probably ebay. Nice little kit

Good morning Greg,

I agree. Very few layouts have residential areas. Need to bring them back.

Hey Mandinga!  Wow!  Incredible, really!  I really like how you're densely packing every foot with multiple scenes, happenings, and I can feel an overall life taking shape in every shot.  Keep on, keepin' on brother.  I'm pickin' up, what you're puttin' down.  keep building the Zen layout!      T...

Good Evening Tom,

We have been in San Diego for the past week and I did not bring my computer, hence no reply until now. Thank you for your kind words. I guess some of what you mentioned comes from my recent to the F&SM. George is great at filling in the spaces. not that I am a George, but I observed and am trying to emulate some of his ideas. Flattery and all that. I am glad that Lou had had to change his photography date. This gives me more time to infill in portions of the layout.

As you may have heard, it is really hot here. Leaving the 70 degree days of San Diego, crossing the 122 degree temp of desert and arriving home to 114 was a trip. Today was another scorcher, but at least the power stayed on all day. The rest of the week portends to be more of the same. Lucky us. The good news is that means more time in the train room.Yipee.

I am almost done with this scene and will post a pic soon.

I made a decision to fix a scratch built building that was damaged about a year ago during some layout remodeling. The building is similar to SRMW Martin Machine. I scratch built this building several years ago, want it to be placed on the edge of the waterfall. During a remodel a couple of years ago, I was leaning on one edge of the plywood foundation and then crack, the entire concrete wall broke into a million pieces. The building foundation cracked into several pieces. now that I am trying to complete the area and install the waterfall, I decided to fix this area I also really want to complete;

Here is two photos of the changes.

It 's amazing how much ground foam one uses for scenery. Here are several new updated photos of Chester, Little Falls and Ironia. I just have started adding pine trees in Ironia.  Many more trees to be added. There is a small section of the riverbed in Little Falls that needs painting, then I can start with the envirotex water. There also two partial mountains at the SW corner of Little Falls that needs scenery. Still under consideration of how I am going to handle these areas.  Little Falls will need streets and the structures need to be placed and lots of cars, trucks and details added. So-o, in the meantime, enjoy the recent progress.

I have been working in Ironia re installing my version of SRMW Martin Machine and planting trees. Lots of trees to plant in this area. A local guy makes them and they are beautiful, so I got carried away and purchased a few. Actually, I might have to get some more! The foundry building needs to be properly installed in place. And there are a couple more buildings in this area that also need a  final location. Moving slowly, but I like the results. Looking for material to make the river basin above the falls. Considering 1/8 plexi. It needs to be real thin because there is a two track mainline behind the waterfall on a helix. Enjoy.

Frank,

Great job on the repair and all the scenery. I've thoroughly enjoyed following along with your thread.

Wonderful pictures my friend. Scenery sure takes a long time doesn't it?

Good Afternoon Tom,

Thank you for your kind words. Just stopped picking pods outside and after lunch and a shower, I will be in the train room for the rest of the day. (or what ever interruption my wife might promote). Scenery really does take a long time. sometimes it has taken me two day to do about one square foot. Sometimes even longer.  And then you have more details to add. But it is worth every bit when it is done.
My sister in law is arriving on Monday. That is both good and bad. good is that she will keep my wife busy. Bad is she talks more than my wife. Perhaps I'll loos the key to the train room with me inside!!!

Have a great weekend.

Over the past few days I have been working planting trees, scenery, etc... in the center island where Ironia and Essex Fells are the towns on the upper level. I am trying to details at the back of this area, working forward. This is primarily ground cover, trees, leaf litter. The dual mainline in the photo is part of a helix. the single track on the right is a spur to the steel mill that is still under planning. The trees are made by a local friend / supplier. He does a beautiful job on several different size including detailed or non detailed trunks. Trees really eat up the landscape. Several of the rock forms need painting so I have been working on these as well. Once the trees on the left are added, I can move forward to complete that area.

While I am waiting for some more trees, I decided to take on a quick structure build. FOS Darnell's Auto. All parts are braced and primed with A&I. Windows are primed. Next step is painting the main walls, door trim and windows. Hopefully, the trees will be ready later this week, then I'll be planting more trees.

Frank,

Scenery, scenery and more scenery. Will we ever finish?

Now, you tease us with a FOS buld of Darnell's Auto and then don't post any pictures. You know we all love pictures. The layout is looking wonderful Frank. Keep up the fantastic job. Never mind I know you will.
