A whole lot of building going on with this thread.  Great builds, all of you, Brad, Magnus and Jamie.   Each one a little different yet beautifully done.  If my layout wasn't in the arid western states, I would very much like to build this kit.  Oh yeah, and if I had the big bucks for the kit.  LOL

Good afternoon everyone. Well I have been plugging away at it this week. I have the stepped up base put together for the main large building. The windows are in and the acetate has been added to the windows. Now to paint on some blinds and then the walls can start going together. The signs have been done. Sorry, you can't see them yet. Once I get the walls together, then you can see what the new personalized signs look like. My wife and I had a lot of fun figuring out how to do them. I have started putting together the open are where the oysters are processed. The instructions say to glue the plaster walls to the base and then start adding the walls that get glued to the inside of the plaster walls. When I added glue the the walls, boy did they ever start curving ( Warping ). I put some clamps on them, very carefully so I wouldn't snap the plaster walls. Once this is all done drying, like Magnus, I too will be adding lights in this area...... stay tuned....

Good evening everyone.... Well I was able to get some more work done on the kit this afternoon. I've posted a pic of what the middle piece looks like on top of the bottom. The fit is pretty good. I can't show you the sign yet. Soon. I started the top section as well. I used double sided tape and glue the boards onto the walls. Pretty easy and quick. No mess either. And a shot of the basement open area. Have a great night....

Just a few more details to add Before the building is finished

Magnus.....WELL DONE! This afternoon I have this music cranked and the walls are going together. A modelling tip......
When I glue my walls together, I line them up with the lines on my cutting mat, and that ensures that they are nice and square. I have always done them this way and not once have I ever had a problem...... Have a great afternoon........

Burdick Oyster Co is finished. i`m missing a small window above a door.
Now I`m going to focus on some other parts of the layout Before i build the other structures on Oyster Hill. It`s a great kit and it was fun building it.

I`ll follow along as you build your kits  :D

Excellent build Magnus, some day I will build mine too , but first I have a lot of N-scale to build.
I love photo's, don't we all.

After looking at your build, Magnus, I think you might have the wrong door at the top of the staircase. I went online and closely looked at Doug's original build, and it looks like he used a tichy type door for the opening there, instead of the laser cut doors for the rest of the build. A while back I purchased a kit of all kinds of doors and windows from tichy. Kinda like a sample box of what they make. Anyway, I have posted what I think is the correct door, from my sample pack, that fit that opening perfectly. I didn't get that door with the kit, so maybe we are missing the door. Maybe Doug can comment on this post. Onto my progress.... I have begun the roofs. I am very pleased with this kit so far. I misplaced my small package of LED's, so I cannot glue the buildings above the basement opening as I would like to light it up as Magnus has done. Hopefully a local dealer can get back to me shortly with what he has in stock.... That's it for now......Jaime, where you at? Have a great night everyone....

Modelling tip for the week...... I like to use the pictured blades for cutting small wood pieces. The other night I went to cut a trim piece and didn't notice that the blade was facing upward, and started to push down. I felt that something didn't feel right, and then noticed that the blade was against my fingers and thumb. Thank goodness I stopped before cutting my fingers badly. I have now begun placing tape on the top part of the blade so that it can only cut 1 way. WOW! That was so close to being a bad situation.........

Magnus, great structure build.  It looks perfect on the layout.  Brad, ouch!  I have a cheap plastic blade holder I got somewhere for the same reason.  I'd post a pic, but I'm out of town for a few days.

Brad,

Get you one of these single edge razor holders:

No doubt you can pick one up at your local hardware store or paint store.

I'm taking a short vacation from the work bench. I spilled A&I on one of my white dress shirts and then busted my plaster castings all within 30 minutes. I decided to walk away from all builds to "recuperate".

Jaime

Oh my Jaime..... It's good to walk away for a bit. I'm sorry if I was pushing you into starting this build if you weren't ready.... Take care......
