Hi Everyone:

Took a ride around the Lansdale Pa. Allies where I live looking for corrugated roofs.

Here's what I found. Anything from almost completely rusted to nicely painted. This should provide some nice modeling information.

Hi All:

Here's the last photo. Nice old boarded up barn type building. We have allies behind the houses all over town I will doing some more photography.

Karl,  Thanks for the photo's.  Love the barn with the painted red roof.  One thing for sure no holes in the roofs.  One completly rusted over.  It all depends on what era.  I still now think mostly silver galvanzied with some rust streaks & few few panels total rust to add interest.  No holes & some patching.  I also think unless I am wrong any patches that you do  the corrugations should run with the other corrugations.  This way the water will run off smooth without any turbulence.  I hate to say anything (do not want to be known as the nit picker) but one of your patches is running the wrong way.
I just thought of something we found a way to slow Karl down on his builds.  Karl will never do a metal roof again! & Karl will never speak to me again also.
Sorry Karl

Hi Mike:

Thanks for your reply. Gearge's kits are probably in the 1920's ERA. So I think I will do a rusted roof. I like the old look.

Hi All:

The buildings are finished. On to the diorama. The roof is mostly rust with a little bit of silver.

Here's a photo.

Looks great Karl. I personally prefer a dark rusted metal roof. I've never been able to pull off a gray or metal colored roof in a model, I feel like it always stands out and looks wrong to me. I think it's one of those things that is very prototypical but is very tough to make convincing in a model.

Hi Steve:

Thanks for the compliment. I have to agree with you on the gray and metal roof colors. Yes they do stand out a bit. Anyway thanks for your input.

Karl,  After looking at your photo of the completed workshop I think you hit it out of the park with the rusted roof.  I also like the look of the little office next to the lumber storage area.  Fence & landscape up next on this Diorama ?

Hi John:

Great photo thanks. Roof is nicely weathered with rust and holes.

Hi All:

Started working on the diorama. The lumber shed is glued down and has some small amount of ground cover around it.

Hi All:

Rear track has been added behind the lumber shed. The box casting on the left is not included with the kit. Found it already painted and it fit perfectly so I used it.

Hi All;

Here's a progress shot from the workbench. Siding track layed and groundcover installed.
