Jamie, watch the advanced seris of AK interactive videos it shows how to add mud and shadowing to the model.
I've been doing that and I would like to try those techniques. I must confess I got too eager to get the dozer built so I may try that stuff later. This is the first model I've built in a very long time and I don't want to get lazy about it.

Looks great Jaime!  Makes me (almost) want to go out and buy a plastic kit.  It will be interesting to watch how you pair the 'dozer with a haunted house.

The haunted house from Clever is quite run down. I figured the dozer would be there to tear it down. That's part of the challenge, make it work. Paper and plastic together as one, I thought it sounded challenging enough.

I'm glad Dan came up with the challenge idea. It's definitely got me back at my work bench.

Jaime,

Wonderful job on the dozer. I've enjoyed the journey to this point.

Great little build. It would make a great addition to an On2 layout or diorama. Thanks for letting me bounce the idea off of you in Maine.

So I printed the Clever Haunted House in greyscale so I could mock up the scene I'm thinking about making. Here you see a rough mock up of the freebie haunted house.

And here you see how I envision the 12x12 would go.

I know I have some Gatorfoam in my supply closet so I need to get started making some landforms and cutting some card stock for the haunted house. While I'm at it I need to find my metal straight edge. No doubt it is in the same box with my best tweezers and my handy purple and orange hobby knife...

Thanks. I now need to find my color pencils and paint that house ... Not!!!

I've been searching for my ream of card stock and I can't find it. Darn! I'll have to make a trip to the office supply store.

This hobby thing can get expensive.

I found my ream of card stock. Woo hoo!

Now if I could find a million dollars I'd be all set...

Arrgghhh!!!!

This is indeed turning out to be a challenge. I found my ream of card stock only to find out my printer is out of color ink!!! I guess I'm going to be making that trip to the office supply store after all. You all know it is cheaper to buy a band new printer than it is to buy ink replacement cartridges. Furthermore, my printer uses a separate cartridge for yellow, magenta and cyan. I really need to find that million dollars now..

I'm back in business !!

For the price I paid for the ink I could have bought a new printer but I already have 3 and well, I don't need a fourth one. I did have a $10 off coupon so that helped...

Nice work on the dozer; the colour and the subtle weathering looks really fine ;)

Thank you. Weathering is tricky for me. I have tendency to put it on too thick.

The freebie from Clever Models comes with no instructions. That's ok, aft all this is a challenge.

I've worked on models from Clever before so somewhere along the way I found some generic instructions. I'll follow those as best as I remember given I cannot find the file at the moment.

First thing is to well, cut the parts from the card stock. Use a fresh blade in your hobby knife and a metal straight edge. Once the parts are cut you want to color the edge with a cool grey PrismaColor marker. Don't cheap out here. The Prismacolor markers are fantastic and they hide the glaring white edge on the paper parts once cut.

Here is a closeup of an edge colored with the grey Prismacolor only half way across.

I decided to add bracing to the corners and the edges of the cool freebie haunted house's stone foundation.

Tada!

You'll notice I made the corner bracing a tad proud of the foundation. I did that on purpose for when I plant the cool freebie haunted house in my diorama I want it to look like it isn't floating on the ground. I will build up the ground around the foundation.

I'll try to point out some notable events as I continue but this is pretty much the same (cut, hide edge, glue together, brace) going forward on this cool freebie haunted house from Clever Models.

p/s Yes! I am -that- cheap and recycled my badly printed sheet of card stock and printed on the reverse side once I procured the excessively overpriced ink cartridges.
