Hey AK - Always love your work and appreciate the way your SBS makes the scratchbuilding process seem "easy".

I really like the station, and was inspired to finally try out a scratch with bricks.

I painted the inside black and gave the brick sheet a coat of paint, it helps keep the bricks from falling off when cutting. Next step will be to get the brick on the walls. Sorry no picture, I didn't think it was exciting enough.

You mentioned the step above NOT being "exciting", but I'm actually very excited to know how you got a firm bond between the walls and brick sheet. (Mine seems to peel off with moderate pressure)

Would also love any guidance you have for making seamless corners in brick. Thanks for the expert tips!

Kingred, first of all thanks for stopping in. As you seen in the posting's that the brick sheet is stuck on 1/16 thick basswood sheet. All I do is make sure the sheet is very clean with no dust. After I stick the brick to it I weight it over night. I have never had a problem with the brick sheet peeling off, once and awhile I might loose a brick or to when cutting. As for the corners, after the basic building is built I use a premixed joint compound, I smooth it into the seam, when it dries I lightly sand it and paint it the brick color. I haven't done it yet to the station but will be shortly. Hope this helps

Thanks AK -

What did you use for adhesive?

I use the brick sheets from Rusty Stump, they come with adhesive back, it's like peel and stick. He uses a very good glue, once it is on an sets up you will wreck the wall trying to get it off

The chimney's and station sign are on. Left to do are the 20 roof supports.

Thanks Jim, looking at the photo I see I still have to blend those corners.

ak-milw

Painted a few sticks of 1/16 sq. basswood gray. Then started chopping the pieces for the 10 end roof supports. Still have to add the angle pieces

Finished it up and ready for the layout.
