It looks like the crew in that yard tower kept busy.

This was a busy crossing for sure. Lots of action occurred here. The tower had a full time staff off four.

All that straight track.....just made for Greg Speed.....although I seem to remember someone making me slow down on the mainline when passing the yards.

Our local paper has a throwback Thursday photo every Thursday. I got the idea from the paper which I never read.

I needed to have a road from the yard area to the lower level where I planned a coal dump.



I used cork roadbed to get the basic slope for the road.



I liked the look so I glued it in place. I then added some scenery paper and hand carved the rock side.

I painted white glue on the cork and added Scenic Express dirt.




I added some base scenery material and stained the rock side with A&I.

I'll fast forward here and you can see the scenery is now in place.

Next to the dirt road is a drain pipe with a little water draining out.

In the next photo you can see a second drain pipe with more water and a small puddle. The water is a piece of cellophane food wrap glued in place. I then covered it with Floquil Crystal Cote. Looks like water.

I then scratch built a coal ramp/dump for the helper loco on the lower level siding.

I also made it removable so the track could be cleaned without chancing a break on the coal ramp.
