Hello Everyone,

I started work on Mt Albert Scale Models Northway Tractor Repair. I picked this kit up at the last expo. It looks like a nice little kit.

This is the photo from their website of their completed model. I'll be modifying the colors a bit.

I laid out all the wood for the walls. I applied some texture with a wire brush and added some board end details.

I primed the windows and doors with Krylon Camo Khaki.

I colored the walls with a base of A&I. I then painted them with Apple Barrel Barn Red using a stipple type technique with a stiff straight brush. After the paint dried I used a wire brush to take some of the color off. I followed up with another wash of A&I and a dusting of pastel chalks. I had originally thought I was going to do a green color for the walls but I felt like red is more suited to this barn-like structure.

Thanks for checking in.

Steve,

I'm in agreement with Jan. And, I really like the wall color and weathering.

Thanks everyone.

Small update today. I added all the interior bracing, painted and glued the windows in place and glued the walls together. This kit comes with a cd of assembly photos so I haven't needed to read the instructions yet. I've just been building off the photos.

I painted the windows and trim with Craftsmart Ivory craft paint. I think I got it from Michaels. Its a nice off-white almost yellowish color.

The sign was painted on using a supplied stencil. I used the same Ivory paint as the windows and trim. They used spray paint on the pilot model, I taped the stencil in place and used a stiff brush to stipple the paint on.

Thanks for checking in. Next step is the small office to the right of the main building. I'm debating doing it red like the main barn or ivory to contrast a bit. They used the trim color on the pilot model for contrast. Opinions?

Looks good so far, Steve, especially the sign and weathering.  I like the contrast color look for the office.

Hi Steve:

The wall look just great. Very subtle but very nice.

Steve,
Since the office addition has different siding, I'd go with a slightly contrasting color, though I think the white used on the display model is too different form your faded main building.

Thanks Steve , Tichy doesn't seem to have these but Grandt Line and Campbells have some nice ones.

Brother, you are amazing. How do you manage to work on so many things at once? Plus you do a great job on all of them.
I need to view three forums to keep up with you.
