ACL 1504,
What a fantastic detailed job on the tanker (un)/loading racks and "sanded tank" (hey perhaps that can be the unofficial nickname of the tank).  ;)  Keep up the riveting work bossman!  KP-out...  P.S. tell Mrs. P. I'm waving at her, she can probably see me now with her new peepers! 8)

Thom,

Thank you, much appreciated.

The Babe can see clearly now! She is waving back.

Today I started to add the concrete pad for the entire fuel facility. The heavy trucks will need the concrete so they don't get stuck in the gravel and sand.

I got a large piece of 1 ply cardboard from Sam Flax Art Supply and then marked where the road was needed.

More in a few.

I removed the cardboard from the tracks.

I replaced the fuel platform. It looks right at home.

Diet Pepsi time folks. Back in a few.

These are the tanks and quonset hut from the Walthers Interstate Fuel and Oil kit.

I think it will take me two weeks to finish this area.

Something to consider:  A dirt berm around that large oil tank.

Looks great Tom. I made a berm out of strip wood painted concrete color and white sand around the tank.

Dave,

I do have something in mind. I show it later in the thread.

I made a Tom Sawyer trade with Cuse last week. This week he delivered on his end. We are still working on my end.

I'm now the proud owner of the FOS Pier 27 structure built by Karl Scholtz.

I'll use this building on the third level.

Did you ever notice how many towns are named after their water towers ! ?

I LOVE that building! The matte colors are perfect, the weathering is just right...I just came to the conclusion that I could not find a spot for it on my little backwoodsy RR...I'll be able to enjoy it on Tom's layout for years to come.

Some of you may know the story behind it...I was in N scale for many years, participating in this forum and its predecessor, and envying all of the craftsman kits and narrow gauge equipment in HO. My primary influencers were Frary & Hayden from the 70's. I always wanted to go that way, but...

One day, I was home early from work and PostalKarl suddenly announces in the build thread that "whoever responds first can have it" :o ...that was it for me in N scale! A week later, the building was in my possession, the N scale structures were in a closet, and I was calling my track HOn30. Thank you Karl for the push...I couldn't be happier!
