Tom,
Can't wait for the opening date of the hobby shop since everything is now organized. Your layout updates just keep on getting better and better.

I was glad to hear your surgery went well - I hope your recovery goes well, and is quicker than you expect.

Tom - Hopefully you are not in too much discomfort.  I go to see a hand surgeon tomorrow to find out  if anything can be done for my "trigger fingers ",  time to put the Babe to "work on the Railroad."  Best wishes and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  Jim

One is a Central of Georgia 40' boxcar. The price was $1.69 in 1983.

This car is OP4, meaning out of production and very rare.

Mine has a box price of $1.49, but it's dated earlier.
Boy I feel smart this evening.
Working on my second million. I gave up on the first.

Tom,

It is a shame this aging process gets in the way of our lives and slows other processes and goals. I am sure that you will go on a tear after your hand heals and will continue to provide your followers with eye candy. Hope you heal quickly and permanently, looking forward to the next bit of scenic progress.

Curt,

Sorry for the late response. Yes, it has been like Christmas finding new old things.

Tommy,

I'm still finding things that have been packed for years. I appreciate you following along. And, I still have a little organizing to do as well.

John,

I appreciate you checking in and for the support. The surgery went very well with no problems to date. The stitches come out next week. I'll go from there.

Jim,

Thanks for stopping by. No pain in the hand but a pain in the rear for the minor set back on not working on the layout.

Chip,

Athearn came out with 3 versions of the Central of Georgia car. The one above, I forgot to mention this, is a special run for a Georgia RR Club. To my knowledge Athearn didn't make a 50' single door boxcar for the public.

The three original versions Athearn released were 40' C 0f G boxcars. I say three versions as the two runs were different colors of brown and one came in black. The two brown (actually one was more maroon than tuscan/brown) versions are shown below as part of my private collection.

Bob,

Good to hear from you my friend. Yes, the aging process this past year has really cramped my style. I'm chomping at the bit now to get back to work on the layout full time.

2017 is a year I'll personally be happy to see go!

Good to hear all is going well.  Listen to your wife and the doctors and don't push it - we don't want to see a relapse.  I'm looking forward to seeing your progress reports once again.

John,

I'm sorry I didn't see your recent post.

Thank you, I'm doing very well and the stitches came out this morning. The Babe made sure I listened to the doctor and followed his instructions. Again, thank you.

The last month of 2107 was crazy around here. I was getting over the flu and then had hand surgery about 10 days prior to Christmas. I'm back in the saddle and almost back to 100% with the layout construction.

I'm building a small diner by Bar Mills called Sweaty Betty's. Here is the location it will reside. It is between Caldwell Junction and the small loco lubritorium.

I won't be doing the build on this thread but will show the finished build in place.

If you so desire, you can follow the build at the link shown below.
