I used bright white LEDs for the main building and warm lights for the supply/secondary building. I did this for no other reason other than to not have both building with bright lights.

I continued the road from the lubritorium to the main road. The main road is yet to be installed. This is the dirt road Sweaty Betty's and the rural post office/country store will be located.

This next photo shows the first layer of dirt on the left and the second layer of dirt on the right.

Here is the same dirt road with the second layer in place and matte medium applied. This road will take two days to fully dry so I can then apply a light dusting of a third layer.

I also applied a light weathering to the roof of the drying house.

The A&S RR workers were sloppy when adding sand to the sand bin. I wonder how much sand will be wasted in the further using these employees?

I'm almost caught up but I'm done for this fine day.

Very nice Tom. I decided to follow your lead and I am putting Tichy rivets on the outer bracing of the sand container I built.

Lots of great stuff going on in your layout. Tell you the truth I didn't realize there were layout topics in modelersforum.

Curt,

Thank you, I appreciate the support. The rivets make all the difference in the model. Something simple like rivets bring the model to life. It's visually effective as well.

ACL1504

Today I added the first two layers of scenery between the track and the dirt road.

While the scenery was drying I moved onto the third level area above the lubritorium. In the next photo, the 1X3 is just under 10 ft. long - 9 ft. 8.25 inches to be exact. Due to the length of the 1X3, it sags in the middle  1/16".

The level is clamped to the middle to get the 1X3 level across it's length. It will stay clamped until the cross braces are in place.

Why worry about 1/16"?  1/16" here will result in the level being off 3/16" plus 20 feet from this point. I'm not willing to chance it nor do I want to come back and fix it later.

You may be tired of my level photos but trust me when I say it is extremely critical on this level for it all to be within the bubble.

Notice the numbers 3 and 4 on the 2X2 blocks on the Ovalix 1X3 in the next photo?

These 2X2's are for screwing the 1X3 cross braces to them as I couldn't get to the back side of the Ovalix 1X3 due to the Ovalix risers.

I have six of these blocks spaced equally between the 9ft. 8.25 inches length.

Now I'm going to back up a little and tell you I made a mistake in measuring. Even though Grandpa said measured twice and cut once I still made a mental error. It's more of a measuring error than a cutting one.

In the next photo I'll refer you to the 2X2 block in the corner. It is back screwed to the wall mounted 1X4 and side screwed to the 1X3 as shown.

The mental measuring error is the 2X2 should be backed screwed to the wall mounted 1X4 inch to the left. Not a real big deal but one that needed attention.

The other end (north end) of the 1X3 is screwed in the correct location. This 1/4 inch mistake caused each of the six cross braces to be cut at a different length. This is why each 2X2 block has a number 1-6 marked on it.

As I cut the cross braces, I also marked each cross brace to correspond with the 2X2 blocks.

As mentioned, each cross brace is cut a different length to fit between the 1X3's.

The line on each end represents the width of the 2X2 block. I drilled two pilot holes in the numbered end to avoid the ends splitting when screwed to the 2X2 blocks.

For your convenience, here is the photo again.

Done for the night, more tomorrow.
